best place is when youre travelling on your own. train to/from london, few cans. long haul flight, outbound free beer, inbound some nice spirits. normally with a god movie/series but AA now have a live sports channel, so some beers and Portugal vs Italy last time. (shit game but not bad when you're in the air.)

I enjoy it myself. My best one was last Christmas day. I go up my mams and our lass goes to hers for dinner. I was walking home through town and The Dun Cow was open. Popped in for a couple and was great. Hope it's open same time this year.

Eaten out alone as well. Went through a period where the missus had afew chronic conditions so wasn't unusual to be on holiday but she wasn't well enough to out or whatever so I'd nip out meself with a book. One of the few chances you get to just watch folk live their life, can be a weirdly social or connecting experience in a way. Great way to get to know a place or community.

I'm 42 now like but was 18 when I first worked away... was either go out on my tod or sit in a box room in a b&b watching a very small portable..
