Rating Mince Pies

Well I think we have close to a hands down winner here.
COSTCO.
4.9/5

Tremendous. Sponge, not pastry top which was a nice difference. Decent size. Larger than the average.
The only thing which I marked it slightly down for was excessive powdered sugar which meant a clean up operation post munching.

Solid performance.

And Asda sell mince pies all year round

No salted caramel or black forest ones in Aldi at Hylton Riverside :(

Although I suspect my expectations may be unreasonably high due to comments on here

Morrisons standard today. Filling was OK but pastry was too dry 6.5/10

Thought I was the only person who did not like sweet mince pies, so happy I opened this thread, they are ducking rank, would rather have my balls shaved by a cheese grater than eat a sweet mince pie

Co-op Irresistible Brandy Buttercream Mince Pie

Absolutely fantastic. Nice brandy taste but not too strong and the buttercream instead of a lid means that you get a good balance that you don't get with some of the other pastry heavy pies

Straight to the top of my leader board 9.5/10

Morrison’s The Best mince pies are canny. Solid 8.5/10.

The Black Forest ones are so far away from being a mince pie there’s no point in reviewing them.

I actually saw them in Aldi and wasn't sure they were worth the £2 after the shit of the lidl mini ones. Have got some of the Morrisons ones to try this week though. Their standard was decent but pastry was a bit dry
