England in Sri Lanka Red Ball

I haven’t seen today so can’t comment on his behaviour

But let’s be clear, his red ball form has been bang average for 2 years (average 30), he has no right to be in any team. Hopefully this acts as a kick up the arse, competition is good

It was average for 1 year, and that was when he moved up to 5 with the gloves

You are being unfair like, up until 3 tests ago he was ranked in the top ten batsman in the world.

You don't drop world class players because of a small dip in form.

It wasn’t. Look at the chart on cric info

Was just quoting the papers to be fair, you are still being harsh like. Out of all the cricketers to play for us over recent years, he is one of the ones who has performed well.

Basically our middle order players have suffered because of the top order failings, they have all been moved about constantly.

I don't get this entitlement nonsense, he is just a driven bloke, and this is how he motivates himself. I love it

Someone like Ali is the complete opposite of this, but its also why he would never make a test number 3 in his life, as he doesn't have the drive and the "i'll show you" attitude.

He hasn’t performed well in the last 2 years. That’s my point.

There are reasons for it of course

He wasn't that bad in 2017 like IMO.

Anyway this is not I told you so style post at all, I think he is one of our best cricketers and I love his character too, seems some don't (not you others).

On the game, I think his innings is taking away the fact we might end up with a sub par score here

His average in 2017 was 34.

I mean old British class? No offense but comments like this are beyond parody

He’s exactly the character you need in this cricket team and I’m fuckin delighted that’s he proved people wrong AGAIN

Proved people wrong? I can't remember anyone wanting him to fail. Why try and create a siege mentality when one isnt required? That last sentence is to both you and bairstow.

Everyone reckon he's mint
Everyone wants him in their team
Everyone also appreciate that sometimes you have to do what's best for the team instead of going on like a entitled schoolboy.

Everyone apart from you and the ginger ninja that is.

Its absolutely nothing to do with entitlement.

Trying to compare that with the things Pietersen has done man

You seem to have it in for him for some reason, don't you say its attitudes like this which is exactly why he celebrated the way he did

good on him, I absolutely loved, as I say reminded me of Nasser, 2 characters you'd want in your team 100 times out of 100 when you are going into a test match

Nasser didn't go on like a little bitch in the aftermath though. Jonny showed a lack of teammanship today. Went down in my book a couple of notches. Still hope he's out number 3 for years though.

That's what he and the rat can't get their head around. This current England set up is mint. They've created a great culture of winning and competition. Yes we are lacking some top order batters but on the whole we have a very healthy stable if players all competing to start. Bairstow got injured for one game. His replacement got a 100 and was mint. Bairstow thought they'd drop someone from a winning team for him. We didn't. Ginge threw his dummy out. We still won. Injury meant he could come in and score a beautiful century.

He should have been buzzing and chirpy not bitter and twisted like he came across.

What really poor poor posts

He has supported the team loads and been praised for it, and was the first to congratulate Foakes when he came off the field

Talking utter utter nonsense

Fine yes. But a guaranteed place? No.

He’s obviously a fine player, but he needs to up his game.

Today he has. Good

I'm sorry like. But how is it a poor post? I'm not talking about him being the first in congratulating Foakes (nothing to pat yourself on the back for either as it's a standard response from a teammate as is being 12man) I'm talking about his interview. It was a poor show

I don’t agree

He’s got fire in his belly and a point to prove which is exactly what you want

We’ll agree to disagree on this one anyway it’s fine

Does seem like I’m on me own with this one so I’ll stop before I start acting like a tit

Aye don't get the "struggling to reach par" and need 400 opinion peddled by some. Looked to be plenty of bounce and crucially some were turning and others weren't. Already a decent score I reckon plus their batsmen haven't set the world alight either

Hopefully this shows that he needs the gloves taken off him and told to bat. All this nonsense about how he prefers having the gloves ffs!
We are struggling for players in top order and he needs to be in that top order and can’t do it consistently whilst keeping wicket.

Fire in the belly is mint mate. But he had a inferno of the mind too when he was going off on one wit bumble after the game. Where has the happy go Larry Jonny gone? I don't like this introspective version.

Really really poor post

Talking shite

:lol::lol:

You never fail to surprise me

So that’s both Bairstow and Stokes who should be dropped

Thank fuck they don’t listen to you

Of course, I find the comments on this thread absolutely bizarre and really poor to be honest.

As someone said earlier this forum seems more happier when we are losing

I get it. You're in love with Bairstow and he can do no wrong. We get the picture, mush.

He's been acting like a petulant child for some time.

Fair play mate take your point. Just on different wavelengths I reckon!

Not true! I think he is one of the best characters in the team

Anyway

Haway!

Harsh

Don’t agree mate

England have been a bit unlucky with the ball, but you get the feeling that Bairstow was more bothered about proving a point than getting a match winning hundred.

Dropped at slip. England not at it in the field

I would celebrate a 50 like that too if you gave so many chances

I like the new run up from Stuart Broad. A few conversations with Richard Hadlee have improved him as a bowler (obviously).
