England in Sri Lanka Red Ball

No we didn't, they were normal English pitches, we scored 400 and Root scored 100 on the same day Australia bowled out for 60

Why do you keep pushing this line when its not true

Nah, dont hand out caps like they are confetti, Broad is a better bowler

He is injured

Only issue is Ali or Foakes at 7, probs go for foakes

I know your call is the sensible choice, but I would have gone for Stone too. Let's have a look at him, see what he offers. Might have been tempted to drop Stokes too actually, rest him up. His body is very valuable and fragile too - that way you could have had Broad and Stone as the seamers, and Ali would have come it at seven.

With that squad, Ali should be eight. I think its harsh on him, he's constantly messed around - but he also hasn't pulled up any trees whilst he's had the chance and he can really counter-attack from there.

Twisting like fuck on the forums I frequent....Swann the leading wicket taker in English conditions...?

Simon Hughes pointed out at the time.

You were probably a bairn and into Pokemon in 2013 mind.

It might have been an idea to play Denly instead of Broad as we are still no nearer finding a number 3 batsman.

No need for this and sort of shows your maturity to be honest

Bairstow is playing 3

Bairstow already twisting about not having the gloves

How is he twisting? he is just being honest, he is right too

To be fair to Bairstow he is suffering for England failing to find top order players

was averaging 42 from 7 in the 2 years before being asked by Smith to keep wicket and bat 5,

its unfair on him like

While I agree with a lot of what you say the bit in bold is simply not true, its just a myth, the pitches are so flat and so so slow. Only Perth offers any pace, which is a shame as I think it would be great cricket.

We should just produce normal English pitches

there is a few posters on here and some media pundits who think England produce doctored pitches for series, its bullshit, those are the conditions, its England, the ball swings, the ball seams.

When we bowled out out Australia for 60 before lunch on Day 1 at trent bridge, people were saying typical England producing a sub par pitch, Joe Root scored 100 on day 1, Bairstow scored 74 on day 1, and we made 400!

Brisbane is the quickest of all of them these days.

It feels as though he wants to hold on to the gloves to protect him from the axe if his batting isn't up to scratch.

not really

such an unfair statement

he was a world class gloveman and batsman averaging 42 from 7 in the 2 years before he was shunted up

Not sure where this unfair criticism has come from, england fans like to turn on our best players sometimes

Déjà vu for England - win the toss and bat first.

I know I'm biased, but seeing a batsman wearing the three lions actually leaving the ball makes me love Rory Burns even more.

256-1 the odds on Root winning eight consecutive coin tosses.

And no, I can't sleep.

Sri Lanka's courieri hasn't improved.

12-0

That was supposed to be fielding. I've no idea what courieri is. or how I got it so wrong:eek:

Dickwella is a mentalist mind. The ball could pitch in India and he'd be convinced it's out.

Quality by Bairstow

Even though we have won, I think in future you really don't need conventional openers here, you could have Bairstow and Vince opening when the spinners are opening the bowling

Jennings dismissal so bad, ball after leg slip just flicks it to him

Excellent that

Root be kicking himself there

Bairstow looked so good there
Been saying for ages that he should give up the gloves and concentrate on batting in the top order. Didn't expect it to be proved so comprehensively correct this early mind.;)

The Root dismissal was the bloody first ball I watched today. Had to turn it over for half a hour after that so not to jinx Stokes.
