Claezy's Doorstep Events 2018

Delighted to announce that Claezy's Doorstep Events 2018 are now open for entry at my.race|result : : Sunderland Strollers Doorstep Events (Marathon / HM / 10K), 02/12/2018.

There is a marathon, half marathon and 10K on Sunday 2 Dec, starting at 8:15am, 10am & 11am respectively. These are NOT races but social runs to which everyone is welcome. They have raised many thousands of pounds over the years, this year our beneficiaries will be Phoenix Cancer Unit, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

All runners will receive a t-shirt plus breakfast sarnie and drink on completion. Once again we'll be starting and finishing at Sunderland Yacht Club, the bar will be open!

This year we're looking for local businesses to support our t-shirts, we'll put their name and logo on the back of every single t-shirt for just £200. Not only will this be great publicity it will also increase the amount we can donate to the charities, if anyone is interested then email [email protected]

Please spread the details of these events to your friends and family and get them all to sign up. Last year almost 200 people ran and we raised almost £3000.

Don't forget that if you don't want to run you can always be part of the day as we'll be needing marshals and supporters around the routes - get involved and help us raise a stack load of cash.
 
Did a nice and steady five miler this morning at 6am. Little bit foggy and hardly anybody about so it was perfect although that hill past Sainsburys and the ski slope is going to be the death of me one day.:lol:

Does anyone take painkillers before or during a run? I've accepted that I have to manage my foot problem and it is always going to swell up and get more painful the further I run. I'd rather avoid tablets where possible but I suspect it might be necessary on longer runs. What's the pros and cons?
I'm not talking about necking codeine and being off my tits but maybe paracetamol or co-codamol. Can't take ibuprofen.

I used to take ibuprofen before playing 11 a side. I used to get battered though.
 
Do people on here follow each other on strava, or is there some kind of smb strava group? I find it great for motivation (not only using it to log my runs, but also seeing others' runs motivates me). I'm not that active on this thread but would be good to see what you guys are up to.

There is but I don’t think there’s much activity. I follow DA and one or two more
