Civil service Job application, interview result

Which is probably the right way to go imo, then people can hopefully apply for jobs they skilled and experienced it and have proven they can do it.

Rather than just filling in 4 good competencies and conducting a good interview and then getting thrown into a job in which they have no technical knowkegdege off, which happens under the current system

Shutting the door after the horse has bolted....HMRC have promoted approx 8000 people in recent years under competency system.
The cases of people using other competencies or making them up are all too common.
Under the system the applicants manager for internal appointments does not get to see or confirm accuracy of application, merely just to confirm not under disciplinary action or needs improvement ( now ended)
No way for the manager etc to say a particular competency is true

Civil service are currently phasing out competency based applications

Have you seen what they are being replaced by - a CV based on competencies

I.ve seen someone get a job putting someone else's competencies on the form,

You don’t seem to suited for any role which involves dealing with people, buddy.

Stop wasting your time.

Buddy, Pal, Mate.:lol::lol:, not sure why you have taken such a dislike to me, but you can carry on with your comments, go on, you know you want to

Yep, unless the people interviewing ask for other examples, then bullshitters get through

Applied for a County Court job and was put on the reserve list. Got a call the morning the job was due to start, the person who got the job was a no show. Lasted six months, hated my boss.

You claimed 20 years experience in “customer service”

What is your definition of “customer service”,pal.

That’s all I’m asking.
Aggressive fucker aren't you!

I have had a job where I had a boss who was a complete tosser, as a person and in that job role, f***ing awful working with twats like that

I'd completed five years of working for the CPS as a Crown Court caseworker but applied to move due to an unsettling death threat as a well known pimp and dealer was acquitted. Prefered that to dealing with fines and bailiffs at the County Court.

I’ve heard of people passing a good competency around a team to use  and others have verified this to me.
Once queried this with someone in SCS and their response was “ well we do put a warning about disciplinary action if we suspect someone is lying”

I asked how many applicants were subject to C&D for this....I was told no figures available

Yeah could not agree more, that system amazingly allowed people to be shit at their current job.

But then able to make up competencies or even get someone to do it for them to get promoted

Without any validation whatsoever whether they true or not!

While I’ve hopefully got no more than 5-6 years left and while I’m not one to hold back with senior management....im not sure I’d want to commit career suicide by going down FOI requests

Still have mates who are branch chairs of Union and also a lad who I used to know who is now on National executive...their message was bigger battles to fight ( pay and general erosion of terms and conditions)

Not taken any dislike, marra, just asking straightforward questions, if you don’t want to answer them, fine with me.

Ok , bro.
