Civil service Job application, interview result

Just a tick box at the end of the process, no real human consideration and certainly not an indicator of someone in the process likely to seek you out IMO. I don't work with public sector processes too much, but the big corporate companies who have these HR portals all do it this way...are capita managing the recruitment for MOJ?

I know the roles involved, no headphones, I have 20 years of experience in customer service, 15 as a manager, headphones are a f***ing pain, but not the end of the world

Hopefully this, nobody noticed how highly shined my doc martin brogues were.f***ing disgraceful

What is your definition of ‘service’ mate.
What exactly is service?

Used to work in civil service, interviews are basically who can tell the best bullshit to fit the competency. It shows by the people who get promoted, shite at their jobs but can say the right things to tick the boxes.

An old manager of mine when interviewing for some new staff said one who was offered a job was a brilliant interview but she had no clue whether anything the candidate said was true, but it ticked all the boxes.

For the record the new starter was shit, couldn’t even file stuff away correctly.

I have interviewed people for jobs. once interviewed someone who I worked with and their interview ticked everything. But I knew he was bullshitting. Went to see HR and expressed my concerns, the Head of HR passed me a post it note with the candidates name on, just told me to reject him, the interviewers need to hone down on the examples that are given. Yep so poor interviewing got that person that job

f***ing Itallics

HMP Exeter? It’s a shithole. When I was last there I bumped into a fellow mackem.

It was built in 1850, the state of it is due to the way the inhabitants behave. Prison inspectors are f***ing clueless by the way

"The living conditions are atrocious for prisoners." Hmmm maybe because they smash the cells up shit their beds and throw everything out of the windows they have already broken. "I know lets refurb everything" so that they can do it all again. We, taxpayers pay for the prisoners, and the idiots carrying out the inspections

Hedging their bets. If the successful candidate fails the background checks then the next port of call is whoever's next on the list. Some background checks can take up to 4 months so I wouldn't hold your breath. Keep looking elsewhere

You claimed 20 years experience in “customer service”

What is your definition of “customer service”,pal.

That’s all I’m asking.

Hello "Pal" fuck off and find someone who wants to discuss it with you

Must be a specific/specialist post ?

The vast majority of recruitment are for generic trawls

This was a specific role, I am working in the establishment at the moment

I got the email below, someone said its a "merit" email and the next job of that grade should be mine, anyone know anything about this "Merit" thing?

"
This vacancy attracted a number of highly qualified applicants and after careful consideration of all of the applications we are sorry to tell you that you have not been selected for appointment.

However, as you were a strong candidate we would like to keep your name on a reserve list. This list will be valid for 12 months from the date of this correspondence and if another vacancy arises for the same position we will contact you.

This email does not constitute a job offer.

Thank you for your interest in this position."
Received exactly the same years ago. Never heard anything afterwards

What dept mate?

Fwiw, if my experience is anything to go by, it actually means you're on a reserve list and you will hear from them if something comes up.

Yes mate the competency based interviews. I am on a reserve list for DWP at an AO level job, came out thinking the interview was terrible and I had no chance. I recently went to an EO level interview at Washington for HMRC, came out confident as I have ever been and scored miserably, 2s&3s

Yep I hate the competency set up, I have recently been successful at one, but still think they shit.

Years ago put in the same competencies in for two different jobs, scored high in one and low in another!
