Sunderland pub of the year 2018

The Hastings hill for me

George and Jane do a lot for the community, during the day it's geared up for handicapped people and their PA's which means the world to these people and their families.
On an evening it's more of a romantic setting ,with the lights turned down low and the music taking a more "Johnny Mathias " and "Elkie Brooks" sort of tone.

Every time I've been in I've had a cracking evening .

New Thai restaurant coming next month too, fantastic authentic food.

Isis
Dunn Cow
Saltgrass
Port of Call
Dempseys Seaham( sr postcode) ?
The others must be cracking if none of these are in..unless ive missed something?
Oh and agree with Promenade ..only been in once ..but busy and good pub
Back in the day the Ivy would have won year on year

If we’re going for the actual best pub then The Isis romps home imo.

The Dun Cow in a close second.

Never been to the Saltgrass tbf so I should have a look in.

Always busy mind you.
Dave is a MLF and is passionate about cleaning his lines and keeping the beer on point.
Aye, but does he buy enough copies of the Echo???

Only the ones who get pissed and then drive home;)
I grassed the old desk sgt from Farra hall up about 20 years ago. f***ing prick that he was!

The old Henry 8th?
Used to love it in there when it was the Henry. Pat Gillespie ran it iirc.

unless ive missed something?
You have. Its not a genuine poll. ;)

Thought it burned down a few months back?

I wouldn’t be seen in any of those. There’s some good pubs in Sunderland so why the hell is that the list?
Because they know you won’t be there. ;)

The Indians is nice too gilly. That’s if it’s still there. Been a year or two since I was in.

Indians has gone now cuz,Geo also gives a discount to lads who are serving in the forces which is yet another coup for the area

The reason it shuts, is there’s nee fucker gets in. I went round on a Sunday when we were having all the nice weather and there was 3 people inside and 5 outside, it was only half 5.
Sometimes just cos they need to prepare for a function (usually a funeral) the next day n'arl apparantly. It's no Board inn like. ;)

My mate lives round the corner and f***ing hates it. He says you are talking shite @gillythedilf. Sometimes shuts at 9:30/10pm for no good reason.
I can only speak as I find moo.Im a freind of the family, not allowed to put my hand in my pocket and get a staff taxi home after a lock in so my judgement may be a little bias .
Having said that I’m not a weirdo and only go out on a Friday /Saturday night when the place is jumping .

Not been in for nearly twenty years but hear the blue bell is well thought of in Washington these days. Might be due to a drop in the competition though, ah the village in its day, sniff
