Has anyone on here just upped and walked out of their job?

Twice in less than 2 weeks for me. Having been made redundant from my job as a contracts manager I took whatever job to keep me going. Anyway I started working for Linde at Aycliffe as a service and breakdown coordinator. Anyway the office manageress was a right bitch and we didn't get on so I just kept working myself. Anyway I got a call to go for an interview for a production managers job in Washington and I bagged the job. Went into work the next day and put in my 2 weeks notice. Bitch tits starting talking down at me and trying to belittle me in front of other staff to the point I lost it with her and told her where to go. Walked out and started new job the following Monday.
Anyway started this new job and it was an absolute sham. MD was nice enough bloke but factory manager and other production manager were knobs. I chewed on till Friday about 1 o'clock. Transport was due to pick some gear up in an hour to take to Barnsley and it hadn't even arrived at my section. Anyway I went looking for it and these 2 pricks said it would be 50 minutes. I told them that wouldn't give me time to do what I needed to do. "Not my problem" was their reply. So I calmly walked to the office, changed my shoes and walked out. Even shook MDs hand on way out.
Started job about 3 months later and still here 6 year later.

I have. It's liberating and you take a hit, but I will never be a slave to suit others. I work hard and don't suffer fools gladly but once I get taken for granted and advantage of, then I'm off

I agree. I posted on here a few years ago when I wanted to leave a job about 2 months into starting it. I don’t have kids or a mortgage but still had bills to pay so it was a risk but ffs, I was miserable as sin that job. I got a new job about a month later.

I was doing all sorts of things that weren’t on the job description and getting no help at all from anyone senior. Working in a school doing English classes to foreign kids (as was my job..) and they wanted me doing maths, science and all sorts. They wouldn’t even buy me textbooks or give me a syllabus to follow on my English classes. The deputy head (my boss) was a real c u next Tuesday too.

Felt so great after I handed in my notice and couldn’t stop smiling during my last week there

Sounds like it worked out well in the end, how are you finding being a comedy writer?

This year I’ve walked out of a few like. I’ve been going through the motions at shit jobs for too many years now and decided to go back to studying recently and I’m loving it.

Walked out of one in March due to having the piss taken out of me by a customer right at the end of the day and the supervisor just let it happen so I told them all where to go and fucked off. I probably wouldn’t have done it had I not being going through some shit at the time but nevermind.

Went to another job which was working 60 hours a week through an agency on minimum wage and I lasted less than two weeks. It was brutal like. Proper physical work for 12 hours with barely any breaks.

Life’s too short to be unhappy in a shitty job man. I’m canny skint being a student again but I’m the happiest I’ve been in years.

Only once, Sport Soccer in town. Was looking after upstairs by myself, was struggling, my shift had ended about half an hour earlier.

One of the floor managers started going through me as someone had tried to nick something said I was on my todd dealing with another customer and didn't see it. He went at it a bit, I pointed out my shift had been over for a while, he went "what do you want, a medal" I walked out and didn't go back.
Aye this happened at work the other week. We had a footy shirt stolen and I was helping a customer. I got blamed by the manager and I said 'well yeah but me role is customer service I was helping a customer'. I then pointed out to her that they ran through her section and she shut up

Worked agency at asda warehouse in Washington during uni break. Supposed to be 10 hour night shifts fri-sun. They would send us home after about 4 hours. Walked out one Friday when theyxsaid there wouldn't be a full nights work again. It wasn't worth missing nights out to make 20-30 quid.

Missus (no) got a temp job after the company she worked for went under.

Basically the job was admin for an office cleaning company. The first morning she walked in it was bedlam.
Piles of paper everywhere, phone ringing, staff shouting etc.

She spoke to the boss who didn't seem to know what to do, anyway, she struggled through until the morning break, had a cuppa in the break room
and went back in. All eye turned and stared. Apparently temps normally walk out during the first mornings break, not come back in.

After a couple of weeks she went in to see the boss and told her that she'd come from a similar business where she'd been for a few years and if
it was OK she would reorganise the office, get the filing done, sort out phones, get everything up to date etc. All that was needed was a few files
and and a couple of new procedures to follow and everything could be fixed up in a couple of days. She even offered to do it over the weekend
to save any disruption.

She got shouted at for wasting time, not doing what she was told and that there were phones ringing and work to be done.

She walked over to her desk, pick up her bag and left.

I worked off a six month work placement when I was student.

It just wasn't going to work out and health issues at the time contributed to my decision. The bloke I was working for was okay in retrospect, but we just managed without fail to rib each other up the wrong way. It happens.

Amazingly, the people running course bent over backwards for me and I was placed with a different company with more straight forward people to work with.
