Under 25s turning backs on alcohol?

From the young people I know in the family and through Friends it does seem that they not as interested in drinking in comparison to how I was at that age. My 16 year old nephew is allowed a few drinks at family gatherings but most the time he doesn’t even bother.

Not sure why maybe it’s a change in society, technology, social media.

Sport and fitness seem to be more popular than ever and with snap chat, Facebook and all the rest there’s also the element of showing themselves up and it being recorded. Teens don’t have to leave the house to speak with anyone these days.

When I was 16-24 all I cared about was getting pissed as often as possible
I'm 55 and didn't drink til 17 and then it wasn't because drink was nice ,it was a social thing and quite a chore at first .Keeping up with your mates like a man etc

Allegedly, neither my son nor his friends drink. I cannot confirm nor deny this, but all evidence point that he is telling the truth. They said that they don't need alcohol to have a good time.
The problem with the younger generation drinking in America, is they cant just go out and have a drink. They seem to have to turn every session into a drinking game. And lets be honest, you're shit at drinking in my experience. So everyone is absolutely fucked, early doors. ;)

I was in Sardinia earlier this year and in one bar the lad came over with the drinks menu and the games menu. Just about every board game under the sun. Loads of tables of late teens early twenties in groups playing trivs n monopoly and risk etc etc
FFS.

puffing on their doucheflutes like the Pied Pipers of Virginity.
Can I google this on a work computer without getting sacked?

Vapes, chief. Vapes.

Imagine preferring the gym and a PlayStation over the pub man.
Cracking post marra....one of mine goes to " spoons" (sounds poncy when he says it) and he reckons he goes in with mates sits down and never goes to bar ..orders from his phone...im getting old..how anti social is that..(suppose at least he goes to the boozer tho)....best times of my life ( i think) spent under a haze of alcohol...i am one who still loves(after 40 years of being in them) the pub and being around folk and would say its a great British institution .Long may days/ nights with mates and family in the pub comtinue( each to their own mind)

Hmm, weird one. I’m not under 25 but very close to that age bracket. All of my friends of a similar age do like to drink to greater or lesser extents. Maybe if I knew more people in their teens/very early 20s that picture would change.

That said, even when I was much younger I never liked the whole nightclub thing. Can’t hear anyone speak and you’re out until the early hours which is what really makes you feel like shit the next day. Nice long daytime session in a few pubs for me.

I'm probably a around same age as you and all my friends of a similar age are the same, love the booze (and some the drugs).

Can't speak for anyone under the age of 25 as I try not to associate with the insta-wankers.

There does seem to be an extreme with the youth as far as drinking is concerned. They are either out there getting completely smashed or they don't touch alcohol at all. There's no moderation.

I enjoy a good glass of wine or a beer with my dinner and then a jazz cigarette* in the end of the day to wind down. Moderation:cool:

Edit: *I forgot I have to give copyright @Charmless Man every time I use that term.
