Under 25s turning backs on alcohol?

Hmm, weird one. I’m not under 25 but very close to that age bracket. All of my friends of a similar age do like to drink to greater or lesser extents. Maybe if I knew more people in their teens/very early 20s that picture would change.

That said, even when I was much younger I never liked the whole nightclub thing. Can’t hear anyone speak and you’re out until the early hours which is what really makes you feel like shit the next day. Nice long daytime session in a few pubs for me.

I can relate to this. Many of my better nights were staying back in a normal pub talking and drinking until chucking out time. There was a computing lecturer who found himself at the core of student socialisation who was worth a few drinks with because of the stories he told. They might have been bullshit, but he told a good tale. That said, you had an escape strategy ready for when he had one too many.

That said, once in a club I don't think the point is talking. You put on your worst dance moves and find yourself having to make your way back from a Scotswood bedsit or similar after a night with a skank who looked okay with full beer goggles. :)

We certainly grew up differently.

I think its tragic when I hear them asking who wants to watch a movie or ufc on Saturday, in the gym. But they likely think getting smashed 3 times a week is tragic. Each to their own but the latter still seems more fun.:p

It’s tragic when people want to get together to watch a sport they mutually enjoy?

Well fuck me, best cancel my season card.

They’ll likely be having a few beers with the UFC you know?

Will they?

Never ever hear of a class night out etc or god fobid someone getting mullered, or bucking.

Seems they rarely leave the house or gym, and when they do its selfies galore.

I'd say there's an element of truth in this. Definitely more young people smoking weed these days.

Definitely.

Its became more socially acceptable now and doesn't end up with people wanting to kick the fuck out of each other.

If I go and watch the footy round a mates house I’ll likely have some beers aye. Not into UFC but I’d assume it’s the same.

I doubt they’ll go through their full iteneraries and shopping lists in the gym though.

Bucking simply isn’t a talking point these days because it takes 30 mins from opening tinder to hiding your sausage.

So you hear the same crowd talking about fifa/ufc/films/cod/fortnight for weeks on end but in reality theyre larging it all weekend eh? Queer bunch.

Aye. From what I gather it's seen as cooler and more hip while drinking is what their parents did and so isn't as cool anymore.

That might be complete bollocks like.

Part of boozing was always for we socially inept to get their end away.
These days, they're all socially inept and just gan on Tinder.

I must admit when I was younger I used alcohol (a lot) to talk to lasses as I had zero confidence.

As I got older I gained more confidence through experience obviously while at the same time noticing the hangovers getting worse.

These days I've got a steady girlfriend whose foreign (Italian) anyway so she isn't a big drinker. I tend to just have a couple of cans watching footy on TV during the week and a bit more on a weekend. I only get bladdered now on special occasions or if I'm catching up with mates back home. I much prefer a joint to a pint too.

Damn right, it's how we learned.

To an extent, especially with college age and under; 'Black the Ripper' and such people probably a lot to do with that with their social media pages and little events.

But I'd say the fact it's being legalised in various capacities in different countries is increasing use even over here.

I used to drink quite a bit before my late teens. Now I rarely drink and would rather spend £25 for a 3.5 in all honesty.

 Likewise. I pay €50 here (Northern Spain) for just over a quarter. Lethal gear too. I wasn't into weed at all when I was younger, I much preferred the drink and cowies. Probably because I was going out a load more (in order to meet lasses) and I wasn't knackered with work.
