Alcohol withdrawal symptoms

Wise words.

I find Omega 3 really helps with my anxiety too. Look for the capsules that are high in EPA and DHA. I order mine from the internet as the ones in supermarkets and the high Street are mostly crap and make you fart all the time.
I take Krill oil supplements every morning. Helps keep the mind sharp, too.

I get them via Amazon.

Erm yes that’s why I always make time to read the match day threads!

He advised that I self certify myself for a week off work ... it has helped so far but I am under pressure to help around the house now!

I have been offered counselling via work and the GP so I’ll consider it, but the key is to change the working environment which won’t ever happen so I might look for something else after I’ve remortgaged.

When I had my last set of big problems I had a go at CBT and read about circles of influence etc. but if anything it made me more frustrated as I still had the same problems. I got through that spell with running, meditation and st. John’s Wort.

Aye i’ve had some talking therapy in the past but I think I was past the worst of what I was going through at the time so not sure how much use it was. It’s alright knowing the theory behind why you feel like you do but as with anything it’s finding the right tools that suit you as an individual.

It sounds like you have got through things once so you i’m sure you will do so again.

Good luck.

Thank you I am going for a long run tomorrow and I’m working through some DIY jobs that had backed up which added to my sense of being overwhelmed.

I might need a few more weeks off work ;)

To be fair if your work are supportive take the time off. I had a couple of weeks off which seemed like an age at the time but in the big picture it’s no time at all really. Did shorter hours for a bit too, on advice of the GP & work were good about it.

That looks dodgy ^ poor spelling and you can see the guy taking the photo in the reflection in the bottle.
Chinese monkey jizz I reckon.

Ta again I will speak to them on Monday.

I’ve never been a MASSIVE drinker of alcoholic beverages but over the past 2 months I’ve consumed a lot less than normal, probably about 3 pints in total.

Over the Summer we were drinking vodka and mixers most weekends, I would sometimes have a few drinks during the week.

My evergy levels are higher and I’m thinking with more clarity - BUT this is a bit of a drawback and I feel that being slightly inebriated and having alcohol in my blood stream may have been masking problems with stress and anxiety.

Is this possible even for low levels of ‘addiction’? Or should I go back to a manageable drinking plan????

I mean in this inthe nicest way but you weren't drinking enough for those problems like

Doesn't mean you shouldn't get a bit help

Hmmmm I dont think alcohol is the problem more just anxiety taking bit more control for you?. I have been thinking about my own drinking lately, heavy binge drinker till 30s, then random nights out but always have a few on weekends and normally a wed night. Struggling to break the wed night habit as i clutch a glass of red. Strange how you dont think you have a problem but dont want to be without. Never had a week off drink for 30 year I’d say.

It is for me as I get pissed all the time.

I just got sick of waking up for a puss in the night
You could fit a cat flap?

I had another bout of urticaria (hives) last night but it settled down an hour after taking an antihistamine tablet. It’s a bugger when your sleep is interrupted though.

Dunno mate. I was off the booze for ages and never really felt stressed but a few months down the line I did get anxiety again and started drinking heavily again. Just makes it worse tbh. Appreciate this doesn’t help at all.
Thank you for posting I hope that some of this thread has been helpful?

Well done for doing something about it and threads like this hopefully encourage more blokes to go and get help if they need it as the macho culture of men stops them addressing health problems head on. Good for you.

I agree completely that it's not a good solution for anxiety. Unfortunately anxiety is only one of my problems. I'm not saying alcohol is a solution to any of the others either, like.

I don't really sit down and think "I'm feeling anxious, so I'll drink one and a half bottles of wine and I'll be fine". It's more that I love the taste of certain red wines and seem to accidentally drink them like it's ribena.

I don't get the same thing with any other drink. If all I have is cheap relatively-low-alcohol beers in the house, I'll probably only drink a couple of pints on an evening, if that.
Alcohol does relieve anxiety and stress in the shirt term, until it wears off. In the long term, it makes anxiety and/or depression a lot worse. I used to have half a bottle of wine at night, not much and I enjoyed it. A year ago I broke my pelvis, a bit too easily. Had to have a liver scan, it was ok. It set me thinking, so I now have no wine from Sunday to Friday, half a bottle Friday and Saturday. I could still have it every night but I don’t really want to anymore. I had raised pressure in my eyes, they have been normal for the last year. My blood pressure has gone from high to perfect, I feel better and have more energy. I sleep like a baby. Anxiety levels are low, not depressed. I never had any weight problem but I have lost a few pounds, try it, not for a week or a month but as a lifestyle change.

Think most people have a drink to chill, never really used it to hide stress etc but it will do a good job i'd imagine to a point. Some say it magnifies good or bad .So its a don't know from me.

This. I never drink to get pissed, but do drink almost every day, but never to cope with stress. If i occasionally have one or two too many, and i feel it the next day, i almost always have a day off. I never feel any better for that day off though. In my mind, the only problem excess alcohol gives me is trying to burn off all those calories, so that i don't put on weight.
