No victim playing or justification attempted I’m pointing out that white people have been the victim of slavery to North African people. It’s called history. I can’t do anything about it I’m afraid.

Any kind of slavery or prejudicial behaviour is wrong but if you think I’m going to get all offended, outraged and apologetic for things white people did before I was even born then you’re wrong.

Interesting though that if a white person brings up racial instances committed against them then it’s ‘victim playing. Imagine a white bloke claiming a black is ‘victim playing’ :eek:

The reason is that it's simply irrelevant. Western Europeans were indeed enslaved by Barbary pirates in brutal ways, but we are not talking about millions of people being transported en masse by governments, creating a diaspora around the world that still (particularly in America, but occasionally in Britain) subjugates and discriminates against people based on skin colour. These petty insults mean more when they reflect the real fear, violence and prejudice that is less than a generation removed from us. I've certainly heard it, haven't you? You're lying if you say no...

Until people realise that the transatlantic slave trade is simply one of the pivotal points in human rights history, they will always be comparing apples and oranges.

We are talking about over a million (apparently) white Europeans enslaved and treat horrifically by North Africans.

I wonder if those who’s lives were ruined by this would feel better knowing that because it wasn’t government it’s not as significant!

I say again any form of prejudice is wrong but thankfully it barely exists now. Countless examples of very successful black people and good luck to them.

Anyone using their skin colour as an excuse for being lack of opportunities or failure are born losers I’m afraid. Nothing stopping anyone being a success in this day and age and people need to stop pandering and being apologetic for things that happened before they even existed.

That is only partially true because you seem to forget that it was other African tribes who initially sold their captured enemies to the arabs and latterly hunted down members of any other tribes, to be sold to the white traders.
