The La's

Ultimate one hit wonders?

The ultimate one hit wonder will be the act who had a number one and no other chart entries. I think there have been a few. The La's had a few other top 75 hits.

What a waste of a good apostrophe

People would be calling them The "Lass" as in Las Vegas without it. Bad enough some people called them The L.A's

Whigfield has gone right up in my estimations of recording artists careers...

Debut was better than the Stone Roses' imo. Never got higher than number 30 though, criminal.
Totally agree.

Mostly his own fault. Too much of a perfectionist and a bit obsessed with his own "legend".

Michael Head's a way better songwriter anyway and the number 1 Scouser who should be massive...
Both had problems with H which has held them back.

Seen him in what’s now Joseph’s about 10 years ago. Great gig

Seen him at the Cluny in July

Read a book about him & they interviewed the band the Crescent. They reckon his unreleased songs are unbelievable. It pisses me off that they’re there but are unlikely to ever be released. He wouldn’t have released the La’s if he had his way.

Great band and great album but 5-10 years too late in my opinion - they always sounded a bit dated to me
If a band like that had emerged during the Cope/McCulloch era they would be having dedicated La's nights on BBC4 now

He's better I agree....Noel Gallagher made me aware of him.

It was about 5 years ago wasn't it....?
