Parking Warning

There should be an offence of inconsiderate parking in areas where parking is allowed, e.g. parking one car's length away from the car in front of or behind you, effectively using up almost two car parking spots. Would be very hard to police though due to the element of who parked first.
I'm getting into petty territory now like but there's a bit of an unofficial car park round the corner from work. I think it's access to a couple of warehouses but there's room for about ten average size cars if everyone plays the game. But no. There's always at least one person parked in the middle of a space where there would be room for two. Same culprits every time.

For a while there was a little DS3 blocking people in and parking across the entrance to the warehouse there. Who does that and just wanders off. Wankers, that's who.

A few years back I used to get the Metro from East Boldon to Newcastle and back for work. In the car park there was one car, a silver Ford Puma with a private plate driven by a well-dressed late-middle-aged false blond woman, that was often parked on the perimeter of the car park adjacent to the station using two spaces. Every day she used to get there around the same time I did and I watched her ignorantly parking her car in the middle of a large space that would hold two cars. Over time I became obsessed with ignorant parking in that car park to the frightening extent that I printed a few flyers to put on windscreens, the wording of which was "By parking the way you have you have deprived another person of a valuable space. Please in future consider parking closer to the car in front rather than taking up two spaces. Thanks". After putting one of these on Puma woman's windscreen I parked my car in another space just in front of Sleepers' door and went to catch the Metro.

When I returned to my car that evening I found my flyer back on my windscreen with the words "Fuck off" scrawled on it . I don't know who had put it back on my screen but it must have been someone who saw me put it on Puma Woman's car. Probably someone from sleepers who knew me ;).

We live on estates incapable of handling the amount of cars families own nowadays.

Sainsburys is the place to park imo.

Imo the majority of estates have a drive and a garage. People are often either too lazy to use the garage or buy a house with a garage that is too small for their car. Simple solution, stop being lazy and use the garage or buy a house with a garage that is big enough for your car. It isn’t anyone’s god given right to dump an old Range Rover in the street at the expense of everyone else’s convenience eg pedestrians, wheel chair users, kids on bikes and other drivers.

They have permits IIRC there matey.

It would be a bit easier to buy a car that fit the garage :D

Most of the streets and estates in Sunderland don't have drives and garages Dan. You should mix with the working class folk of the area a bit more a reckon ;). Range Rovers and the like aren't that common in most people's world. Any new build now isn't suitable for 21st century living imo. They build garages that don't fit cars for starters.

You said estates Moo, not streets. And most of the recent stuff does have a drive and a garage. And cars fit perfectly fine in garages, if you buy a car that fits your garage. Old range rovers are accessible to anyone with a few grand Moo. I have a new build garage and you can fit a family car inside it. As usual though folk are more focused on rights than responsibilities so they fill their garage with crap instead of using their loft & buying a shed and dump cars all over the streets “because they can” and/or can’t be arsed to use the garage. If you want a big car, buy a house with a big garage/drive or buy something that fits. Like I said above, you would be a feckless twat if you had a 2 bed house and decided to have 7 kids.

What's the difference between a bank of streets and an estate in your opinion Dan mate? Say round Millfield and that.

Through traffic?
As mentioned before cars double parked create a safety hazard.

If cars are parked on the street and are allowing traffic to flow freely while not blocking the paths there's no problem

No but you have to be a special kind of prick to want to be a traffic warden
There would be no such role if people weren't so lazy or able to note basic information.

I would like a couple hired to drive around town looking for dangerously parked vehicles parked on bends, junctions and entrances to streets. Also blocking paths for wheelchairs and buggies.
Tow them away and crush them.

Absolute wankers who totally block pavements.

I snap their wing mirrors off.

That'll learn em.

One absolute prick round here actually dumped a load of tarmac on the grass verge so he could park there. It's council land FFS!

Closed curtains and blokes in dressing gowns iirc

Well I’ll be fucked.

Only went and received a Parking Eye notice this morning at the Marriott in Durham.

I paid parking but used the reg off my car and not our lasses on the PayByPhone app FFS.

I’ve appealed due the fact I have proof of being thick.

We don't live in america, so that's not possible. Not everyone can afford a garage ffs
Listen very closely. Cars that are parked on the pavement and block a pedestrians access are a safety hazard and as such is illegal. It makes no difference if you can't get parked. Pavements are not for cars.

I drive a big vehicle and find it difficult getting parked sometimes, but it's tough tittie mate. It's not acceptable :D
