England v India 4th Test

India's maximum chase in England is 171, so i think 230+ will be difficult. Kohli will be the key tomorrow.

Sorry to be the harbinger of doom but 233, with Kohli and Pujara, and Root's captaincy feels like fuck all to me. We need Curran to marshall the tail and muster another 50 or thereabouts. If we hadn't fannied about bowling defensively and trying to avoid batting last night, we'd have a 300 lead, poor captaincy.

The pitch is crumbling and it was hot out there today again, There's enough in it for the bowlers. India have only chased down more than 200 3 times in 60 attempts. It'll be a very good achievement if they do it. I do think Root is poor at times, but most of Englands bowlers can contribute, but it was obvious to us yesterday in the Ageas, that Ali and Stokes were the ones causing most bother to the batsmen, and he bowled Stokes last and then didn't give him a second spell against the tail, which was a mistake.

Stokes has got a dodgy knee hasn't he?

I hate to say I told you so, but I have been saying for a long long time Bairstow is a test number 7 and not a test 5 batsman, he plays far too many shots.

Root was never a test number 3

I have no idea why we totally disrupted 2 of our players who were in form in their proper positions.

Bairstow should be 7 with Stokes at 6.

If Buttler wants to be in the side, then he has to bat in the top 5, end of story

Buttler better at the moment.

Bairstow should never have played, the England management team want shooting with shit.

Why is he taking his guard outside leg. He's going to get bowled by anyone over 80mph. How is nobody pointing this out to him.

I'm going to disagree so please don't be nasty back ;) I don't feel sorry for him. It would be great if he could bat at 7 but there is an absolute shortage of good enough batsmen to select in the top 6. Bairstow is supposed to be one of the very best players in the country and needs to put his hand up and improve.

I agree. His comments before the game were absolutely pathetic. Throwing a strop because he hasn't got the gloves? It's a f***ing privilege to play for England.

He's been messed around nowhere near as much as Ali, either.

Missed the Edgbaston test did we? 250+ and we'll be on top... We'll get em too. Curran is solid.

Interesting stat about India's inability to chase down totals of 200+ so we should have enough. I'll be glued tomorrow.

Away from home that is.

With Kohli in their team their an outside chance but 8 or 9 times out of 10 England win from this position. Spin, inconsistent bounce and its difficult to score when the ball gets softer. 250 will much more than likely be enough.

India came within 18 runs of our second innings total at Edgbaston. Do that here and they win...

I'm less concerned about Curran as the two at the other end.

Buttler playing like a number 5. Best defensive technique

I wouldn't go that far. He was lucky today. He must have played and missed 20 times to Shami alone. Stokes played less than a handful of false shots and wasn't so lucky. That's the way it goes, but I think Stokes was better defensively to my eyes today.

Either way, Curran is miles better than both. Genuinely our best player defensively throughout the whole series.

He's shown he can farm the strike. We'll be fine. The beard to be feared will win this one for us.

I agree on that innings but he’s done this loads lately

Loads of 50s 60s

I understand the doubts, but I having watched th majoroty of the balls this year, Buttler realy does have the most solid defense in the side

He has done this 4 or 5 times since coming back in the side

My opinion is Bairstow at 7, Stokes at 6, Buttler at 5

By the way, Stokes is trying his f***ing heart out, he has barley played a shot in 2 innings

Awful run for Root, but shocking running

Depends on his movement on release. Players can do that to get their feet moving - when the ball arrives they've moved across into a more normal position.
