Absolutely beautiful.

As much as we often moan it’s not as good as it was; Swann is a prick; Alison bloody Mitchell etc, that show continues to he ingrained the cricket lovers psyche more than anything else.

I’ve such happy memories of watching with the tv sound off with me dad, running the car battery flat on a campsite in France whilst listening to us level the series 1-1 vs Pakistan in 92 or even sitting around the pool in Greece, listening to Indian wickets tumble the other week. Brilliant

Indeed, but the people that make it that, are unfortunately being phased out to make way for absolute numpties.

I genuinely worry we won’t have TMS in 20 years time.

Exactly.

That letter was fantastic and sums up the listeners bond with TMS, but Swann is completely ruining it.

When the declaration was imminent, did you hear him chuntering on about how the declaring skipper should put on a false beard etc, just to make the tv pictures more interesting. The blokes an idiot

Winter 78/79 was my introduction to it. Ashes in Oz... I recall they always used a different tune for TMS away. Me and me brother, kids growing up in Jarra listening to cricket half a world away, radio turned down low so me Mam and Dad didn't hear it. Randall, Gower and Botham stuffing it up the convicts.

I love the first TMS broadcast of the summer and dread the last. It's worth paying the licence fee for TMS alone.

Tune was..... Anyone remember?

Not all of the evolution of TMS is bad.

I like Dagnall and Simon Mann and I think Dan Norcoss is canny. It's a shame Ed Smith left, he was interesting without being funny.

Mark Butcher would be a good swap for Swann, we can but hope!

Noooo. I want butcher at the t20s.

For those who are interested, the tune Tms used in Oz in the 70s and probably elsewhere was Florida Fantasy by John Barry... From Midnight Cowboy... I've just learned it was ABC radios tune rather than Tms.

michael vaughan has been alot better recently anarl, when hes not sycophanticly copying blofied or boycott he is very good to listen to

Still the greatest thing on the radio. Earliest memories of it are aged 9 and my Dad waking me up in the middle of the night to listen to Gower's hundred at Adelaide, then Eddie Hemmings falling just short of his century as a nightwatchman in Sydney when we were trying to draw the series (Spoiler: we didn't).

It’s almost like the best commentators on TMS aren’t those with long and distinguished international (or even first class) careers

Fancy that

You've done it now.

My memories of TMS are sitting in the front seat of the car as a kid driving around coast league grounds watching cricket with TMS on in the background. Brilliant stuff.

Unfortunately that plastic mag prick is ruining it with his "banter" its just bollocks and wish he would fuck off somewhere else. Still hear him banging on about how Strauss never gave him the spin coaches job. Probably because he also thinks you are a f***ing tit Graeme.
