Local league cricket

For the uneducated like myself, what is the NYSD format?
Plus you still have a gap in the NEPL left by Seaham Harbour.
Similar to the old NEDCL in that 2nd Teams can play 1st teams and can be promoted up the league's and you can choose to have two teams or one.

Forgot about that. The top division has to have 12 due to ECB rules but no reason why the 1st div can't have 11. However the premier league do tend to look after no1

Have any DCL or NTSL clubs expressed an interest in promotion?
From what ive been told...Swalwell and Consett won’t come up so Shotley will unless they finish outside top two of their league. Easington can’t come up so Crook will if they finish inside their top two. No playoff if that happens.

Take that with a pinch of salt.

Won't be surprised if Stockton aren't in the NEPL next year either mind.

I’ve no idea.

I mean rules are rules, but it seems very harsh to me. One of the best grounds on the circuit, always score very high on pitch markings - yet the NEPL have decided to just dispense of us like a bad smell.

It’s hard not to come to the conclusion that we’ve been hard done to, one misdemeanour in about six years and it’s curtains. It’s even harder now actually to argue against the ‘elitist’ tag.

The league have lost two clubs in one night, three this season - what next? Do they promote three or run with fewer teams next season? I honestly feel like they’ve made the decision to weaken themselves.

Anyway, Rushy has said the following on Facebook:

Bring back the coast league and senior league.
Go back to what made North East cricket so strong in the first place.

You’ve been led wrong, I’ve spoken to a club official and that is definitely NOT true.

No, not deleted mate, still there. He commented on a post on the Durham Cricket League group page.

As for the other part - Crook’s ground is horrific like, don’t think many NEPL clubs will enjoy playing there.

Simple solution is to promote both top teams (or 2nd place if refused) from DCL and NTSCL they replace Brandon who go into DCL1 then promotion and Relegation from DCL1, DCL2 and NEDCL happen as normal.

I do think another big reform is going to happen though and I do like the idea of the NYSDL format.
Same as the NEDL (as you know) and the DDL. Aye, it works.

I can’t envisage Turner, Humble and Muchall enjoying playing and Coundon etc :) :) From what I’ve read they’ve, despite having 18 months to rectify the situation, have ballsed up! Any club who thinks they don’t have to oblige to rules and regulations deserve what they get.. I wonder how many stamps for the paperwork you could buy for the brown envelopes they’re dishing out...

Now now......

It's a cricket forum mate what's gone on is fair enough for debate ( long as names are kept out of it )
I’d never name names in disrepute mate, however, I think it’s safe to say that anyone who has a knowledge of cricket will know the 3 names I initially mentioned will be on money and deservedly so, they’re great players!

Why can’t Easington come up?

Any right of appeal? I’m not sure its a great look for the game locally personally

Id prefer to see you given till April to get yerselves sorted

Apparently they'd had plenty of warnings - there were a few clubs who weren't taking the threat seriously enough. It's a big thing with the ECB (and rightly so IMO even just for the stuff around safeguarding with the amount of nonces around)

The official is wrong and that's why the harsh action was taken. A number of clubs have been given plenty of time to get their Clubmark updated. It's not even as big a thing as it used to be - all on line now.

So is Brandons Clubmark due to run out at the end of this season or has it already ran out??

Just checked the current Clubmark status and Brandon don't have it. So if my maths is correct they have had a bonus year to get it in place so hence at least 18 months
correct

There's an easy solution here. The NEPL1 just runs with 10 teams as it did in the first two year when that league was formed. No relegation from NEPL to NEPL1 for this season, with one promoted from NEPL1 to NEPL to make up the 12. That would leave 9 clubs in NEPL1, promote one as per usual from the winner of NTSCL/DCL play off. That would ensure the leagues further down the pyramid aren't massively affected as they would be if NEPL tried to take 3 teams.

Oh and Brandon have had an age to get this sorted despite what the club official said. Newcastle CC were in exactly the same boat but they got theirs sorted out in time - speaking to committee men at Jesmond and they knew the ramifications if they didn't get it sorted out, Brandon would have known as well.

Once again this would be the sensible option. But doubt they will do it.
