Worst place to live in Sunderland?

Loads worse places than all those.

Traditionally, yes. Over the years, we've had some shocking places, but I don't know whether that's more down to perception.

In my older years, I'm much more aware of any bother or potential bother. I supposed it could be called a sixth sense.
If you're a tad more tolerant and appreciate that folk have an axe to grind against society (and not you) then you can allow bygones to be bygones.

Whereas in parts of SR5, they'd come after you because EVERYTHING is your fault.

Wow. OK.

With respect, I think this @Aituk7 fella is just attention-seeking.
Threads like this are akin to the Echo Online site publishing a story about bin collections or Brexit.

However, I'll still chuck in my two penn'th.

Places I'd feel uncomfortable in, especially at night....

  • Marley Potts
  • Whickham Street side of Roker Avenue
  • Carley Hill
  • Suffolk Street part of Hendon

To be fair, Pennywell has changed so much for the better even just during the last 20-30 years. It would fascinating to see why this is so.
Attention seeking? What are you on about?

What attention am I receiving exactly?

And then to top it off you join in the discussion

Ya Knob

I was back for the tall ships and was amazed how much better the housing stock has improved over the decades. I came away with memories of tree lined streets and neat estates. Generally sunlun could compare with any city favourably. Even north Hendon and l lived there was so improved. Thought the town centre had gone right back though.

When I went to the college on North Hylton Rd about 15yrs ago I got on the wrong bus which turned off into Marley Potts. There was a car on its roof in the middle of the street still partially on fire and there was a gable end of a house with a huge mural of Homer Simpsons head smoking a joint! Considering I grew up down the long streets in Hendon I was shocked to say the least!!

Azalea Terrace
Villette Road/Toward Road
Southwick Green

all minging

Sometimes I take a detour via here on the way home - makes me feel so much better about myself.

I think that if anyone is found on Wearmouth Bridge threatening to jump, they should be taken to Southwick Green and told ..."look, at least things aren't THIS bad are they?"
