Unlike you to miss a hit at the ECB...

I’ve covered it elsewhere ;)

On the topic - I think it’s best that the Mods lock the thread, atleast until the verdict is reached.

I don’t think it’s doing anyone any favours jumping to conclusions whilst only the prosecution has spoken and more to the point, do we really want to run the risk of getting the forum into bother with the police because of things people may say??

Agreed

@Pancho @ReaL Madras seem to be online

And it'll carry on happening, week in, week out, in almost every other town/city centre, regardless of what happens to Stokes.

The last thing two pissed-up knackersacks squaring up to each other will be thinking about is, "better not do this. Remember what happened to Stokesy!"

The best thing imo, now is for this to be kept as low key as possible, for him to just admit he let his temper get the better of him for a moment or two, and just say that and move on.

It’s happened to most people in the past but the best thing is to admit it rather than defend it and move on.

I was always sceptical about this whole jumping in to save a couple of puffs story mind. Seemed all a bit Knight in shining armour for me.
I’m guessing if he was defending them though he’ll be calling them to the stand as witnesses.
Still hope it doesn’t start getting silly with jail sentences mind.

Dear me.

Anyway, glossing over your turn of phrase - I don't know. The footage shows he does jump in and reacts to the other two trying to bottle some other lads. He definitely does go in a bit hero after the bottling.

Well as first days go that doesn't sound good at all, still a lot to play out though. I would be surprised if he get's a custodial, but whatever happens the FTECB will shaft him.

Hec

I hope soo as well, the last needed is the bad publicity

I'm not a regular on the subforum so I'm new to this thread in particular.

Let's leave it as is for now with the reminder that the matter is obviously sub judice and we should all act accordingly.

If any of you cricket regulars become concerned with the way the thread is going then please use the report button.

Thank you.

To be fair apart from MrJardine using homophobic language I don't think there has been too much amiss.

You never know how the pitch is playing until both sides have batted
Aye this is precisely the analogy I thought of yesterday and what I told me dad who is already dead against him for getting into the situation in the first place. Strict Old school disciplinarian that he is!

Regardless of whether he has committed a crime or not, as an international sportsman he (and Hales) shouldn’t be out getting pissed a few days before a game.

This isn’t club cricket where we have a few beers and a laugh. This isn’t the 1970s. He’s getting paid a fortune to perform for his country, he shouldn’t be on the lash

He’s then stupid to have got himself in a situation where, as a high profile sportsman, he’s

1) an easy target for other pissed up lads
2) a public figure who may (or may not) be made an example of

Exactly, however the trial ends up going this should never have happened.
