Anyone ever reported a driver for dangerous driving? just had a very near miss in houghton. Car squeezed between me and oncoming hgv doing 60+ in a 30 zone- missed me by centimetres. Decided a helmet cam is needed now, everytime I go out, there's some incident- this one was the closest yet. Do the police take these incidents seriously?

Was going to report a bus driver that almost pushed me off the road on a bend, last Saturday. Got a pic of the twat. But an hour later i'd cooled down and changed my mind.
Never reported anyone else.

A689 from the A68 roundabout to Stanhope yesterday

at least a dozen examples of a close pass

since found out that i could have saved myself 3 miles of jangling nerves by using the back road from Frosterley to Stanhope

Anyone got a pair of 26" MTB wheels they'd like to sell? Some fkin scrote knicked my set out the shed.

Probably a question for a @Al or @SteveB - what's the best way to ride from Manchester Victoria, out to Macclesfield, on a Friday teatime?

Not a journey you'll see in anyone's list of favorite rides of all time. To be honest I'm not an expert on Manchester city center these days. I moved out of the big city for the alternative universe of leafy Cheshire many years ago. Although actually earlier this year I went on a nurban cycling adventure one day riding as much as poss on off-road cycle lanes & towpaths into Manchester centre & back - taking in towpaths on the Bridgewater canal, Rochdale canal, Ashton canal & part of the Fallowfield loop before escaping back south to reassuring middle class normality. I wouldn't recommend it as a scenic experience, but I managed the whole thing without getting stabbed so if you want to stay away from roads for some reason that kind of thing is possible - even using the Macc canal or Middlewood way all the way to Macc if you like.

But by road the name of the game is just to get out of Manchester as directly as possible, then muddle yer way through the suburbs before finally getting a brief glimpse of a super cycling world just before you reach your destination. Maybe best would be to head south out of the city along Oxford Road & Wilmslow Road (they have installed loads of cycling infrastructure of sorts here in recent years but I don't know how good it is). Carry on through Didsbury to Parrs Wood, then straight across down the B5095 to Cheadle. Then make your way through Cheadle Hulme, Smithy Green & on to Woodford. From there you can find a route on some nice lanes past Prestbury & on to Macc.

Alternatively A6 out through Stockport and A523 through Poynton & all the way into Macc. But to be honest that wouldn't be much fun unless you like traffic.

What you going to Macc for then? If you want to go for a ride from Macc let me know and I can suggest some much better stuff.

Cheers for the advice. My train gets in just before 6 so it's going to be right ballache. I'm not even going to Macclesfield, I'm going to Adlington. So the Oxford Road/Cheadle Hulme/Handforth direction was my thinking.

Yes the route from Cheadle out through Handforth is as good as anything - turn left at the lights in Handforth past the station & that will take you out in the direction of Adlington.

I saw that route once when I was wistfully thinking about dabbling with audax stuff, but then I came to my senses.

There's a couple of spaces left for this ride if you fancy playing out

Thinking a beer or two in MCR before heading out to let the traffic die down a little too.

Well my bike is now Daisy’d. Out this morning and clipped the wheel in front of me. I went over the bars and have a few grazes all down my right leg now. I got on the bike and carried in for another 35km or so, went to change gear and the derallieur went through the spokes. So that’s me off the bike for a couple of weeks.

That was f***ing horrible

The worst driving, the worst pedestrians, the worst cycling ‘infrastructure’. Some shite cycling as well mind. Got to ride back into MCR on Sunday evening anarl FML.

Just did the wiggle Yorkshire thing. Had a train of about fifteen behind me into a head wind doing 20mph .I only knew two of them. I was fine with that, but when the Bastards came past they just dropped us rather than doing a turn on the front. Some people just want shooting

Finished the Mille Cymru this morning. 1000km, 16000m of climbing, 75 hours. f***ing fucked.
Unreal man, you're a mentalist.

On the train back from Manchester after riding the Three Steps to Severn 600 this weekend. It was a bit like being water boarded but for 600km.
