Local league cricket

Your last point is one I believe to be correct, in one breath @wicketkeeper states in the 'good old days' players just played for their local club, yet another states if clubs like Horden had been relegated players would have left etc etc.

When the probability is the local players would still have played and they would have been promoted back up and merit and if not so be it, as all teams should be promoted on their cricket ability and not tradition.

The point is the Durham Senior League was managed by the Durham Senior League commitee. It was up to them who they invited into their league.
The same with all the other leagues. They had nobody above them telling them what to do.

Once Durham became a first class county the county administrators began to dictate to individual leagues what they should do.
The Senior League resented this interference and rightly so. Its sole purpose was geared to producing county cricketers and not the good of the clubs.

The very fact for years and years they did not let anybody enter their league (well before any first class county in Durham) even though clearly good enough is simply unjustified and in no way defendable.

In fact you will not find one single person on this thread defending that policy.

The volunteers, players, commiteees, juniors of the coast and county league teams will have put in the same work and effort as the DSL, and deserved to see their team progress because of that.

In many posts on this thread you have not provided one single fair argument to justify blocking them teams progressing.

It is defendable because it wa their league run by their clubs representatives. Maybe that isn't supported by people on here most of whom are County fanatics but you know you don't have to travel far to find people who will support the DSL stance.

Is he still rambling on about the Senior League?

f***ing boring bastard.

Not as boring as geeks like you rambling on about the "County"

Given there was no pyramid at the time of DSL your point about "progress" is a mute one.
It was just different teams playing in
different leagues . All of which were competitive. We weren't having discussions about clubs struggling or folding then. It must just be a coincidence that local cricket is struggling following the dismantling of the leagues structure.

Yes that is correct

Don’t know what’s worse him. Or the people crying about the NEDL not making requirements for a proper league. Can’t make them then tough shit
Very little difference in standards except only requiring one team. So your point is once again ballocks.

Roughly half NEDCL grounds meet the DCL standards. Plus standards of play can't be all that different with Littletown, Hunwick and Whiteleas all being extremely competitive.

Littletown a settled progressive club

Whiteleas nice club great facilities moving forward

Hunwick class set of lads haven't been to their ground but I am sure they will be ok

The NEDCL has been a lovely League for many year and have allowed these team to move forward as well as being a safety net for other clubs that have fallen on bad times

Take great pride in your league rob and ignore any idiot that tries to put it down

Hunwick have improved their facilities every time ive played there since littletown played there in NEDCL days. Wicket was topper as well. Been some big scores on tbere this season. Dont think its a massive jump from top of NEDCL to DCL Div 2.

The NEDCL gets a tough time from some on here but as others have said its a safety net for clubs who have over reached. Without that net south hetton, seaham harbour, kimblesworth would probably have folded. Certainly littletown would have found it very difficult to gain entry to DCL in thosr forst few seasons.

Well you just have to look at the criteria.
Kimblesworth- 2 teams and Sunday thirds. Social space, showers, covers, sight screens, scorebox. Only missing juniors.
Seaham harbour- all the above plus juniors.
South Hetton- all the above, but missing second team and juniors.
Wearmouth - currently running one team. Meet all other criteria.
Belmont - social space, changing rooms, showers. No covers or juniors
East rainton- no showers, no juniors (next season) or third team, no scorebox.
Likewise Simonside, Tantobie, Kibblesworth and Stanhope.
But all improving, Stanhope and rainton both have new pavilions on the drawing board.

Currently sitting watching Murton 1st team playing.

They have only 10 men and 2nds have conceded!

Just a matter of time before leagues allow only one team to enter a league
