Said it many times last season (as did everyone else tbh). Even if results aren’t magnificent immediately, we just need clear intent and commitment.

Couldn’t tell you what we were trying to do or how we were trying to play over the last few seasons.

JR seems to be finding that.

Spot on.

Can’t wait for next Saturday, it’s the best I have felt SAFC wise for many years. This lad ( never heard of him but love what I have read etc ) is the ‘breath of fresh air” type signing we have all wanted for so long. I went to most games last time we were in the 3rd division and it was one of my favourite seasons. There is a fresh, new feeling about the club, Rome wasn’t built in a day but by god SD/JR have stopped the bleeding and are rebuilding.

It’s just class to see, he just seems chuffed to bits.

Exactly what we have needed for years. Players coming to Sunderland who can't believe it's happening and are absolutely thrilled at the idea of turning out for us. Attitude is crucial in building team spirit and a positive atmosphere.

Far too many recently with ideas above their station/talent level who felt they were doing us a favor just showing up. Can't wait to see the back of them.

Nice to see lads who genuinely want to be here and with the right sort of attitude, such a change to previous years when it was all about the money

Yep. We tried to attract players at the "next level" but for the most part they'd only come here for the money and had zero motivation/care for the club. The exception that proves the rule is M'Vila who seemed to genuinely love it here and then we lost him by haggling over a fee.....before spending the money on a complete waster instead. Typical of SAFC under Short/Congerton/Bain.

Build something special, even if it has to start in league one, where the atmosphere is fantastic and everyone fights for each other and as we progress up the leagues stick to the philosophy that we ONLY sign players who want to come.

Going to be honest here marra, no offence intended as I respect everyone's right to say what they feel. I've often thought some of your opinions on this board have been a load of shite. However since the take over you have been really positive and spoken quite well. We're shaping up nicely and I reckon another couple will still come in this week.

We had an agreement with M'Vila and he went back on it.

Not sure I blame him, but if he was as dedicated as you say he wouldnt have.

this- under short we lurched between every fashionable 'model' of club management- udinese, moneyball (or whatever the fuck Congerton was up to) and the Everton 2010 model. None of them did anything except see an influx of shite every season we had absoloutely no identity exept as a sort of holiday camp for footballers who didnt give a fuck anymore.
in a few months we have already started carving out our own identity- basically by bringing in players that we actually intend to play and not having our pants taken down and using the academy for squad players rather than bringing in more and more mediocore has beens on high wages.
Until Sunderland becomes a more attractive time place for top-flight players to come to it will always be like this. For years we've had to pay over the odds to get players up here whilst not being able to afford it.
Maybe Donald & co can help change the perception of both the club and city, I hope so.
