*********2018 Cycling Thread********

There is a road alternative (think it might be the Stang) but you can do it on a road bike if you’re not soft.
It’s the only enjoyable bit of the whole ride. Who’d want to spoil it by picking their way down on a roadie, rather than hammering down and launching yourself off all the slabs?

Will take your word for it pal and stick to being a soft as shite roadie! Cheers for the info though fellas

Back on the bike yesterday 12 mile,
and today. Same route. With a couple mile off road, on the road bike :)
No crisps, chocolates, biscuits, bread or lager, just Weetabix, salad chicken etc .
Oh and red wine :D

Get rid of this spare tyre :)

fuck saddle sores.

owwwwwwwwwwwwwww

oh, made it by the way.

The north york moors were bloody horrendous. It was like garrigill followed by crawleyside at one point, but with cobbles at the bottom of the bit inbetween.

I did enjoy the 85 mile day, it was dead flat and I stayed on the train doing 18 most of the day without doing much work. :)

98 miles done. Cambridge to Newark. The cycling routes around Cambridge are amazing. Will have to do this route again.
Good to know if I ever do my long run, getting lost is a worry and if I have the screen on my phone it hammers the battery. I have a solar power bank on order.

I did some of the north Kent route I plan to take and found that NCR 1 keeps taking you off onto mud tracks, small gates etc, just to save 0.5 mile of road, when the rest of it is on similar road anyway.

last one I had ( 25%) expired 8/7/17
SAVE25 but normally they're pretty hot ending them on correct date/time

not after those sliders( aka flip flops) are you ?
Yeah, I saw that one but missed it.

I want them, but I'm in desperate need of some bibshorts. The pair I use for long rides fell apart yesterday, the pad coming unstitched from the lycra. Mille Cymru next week so not enough time to get them repaired.

Consider Chapeau( the pad is really good)
heard good things about Morvelo bibs.

there are plenty of le Col £50 strava vouchers kicking about...but they're still pricey

Anyone ever reported a driver for dangerous driving? just had a very near miss in houghton. Car squeezed between me and oncoming hgv doing 60+ in a 30 zone- missed me by centimetres. Decided a helmet cam is needed now, everytime I go out, there's some incident- this one was the closest yet. Do the police take these incidents seriously?

I feel your pain.......had a couple of close ones last night. Usually nobbers who've got the entire other lane to play with anarl.

I've seriously considered the camera route on a few occasions as well.

That was one of 3 incidents today. An old woman opened her car door on me when I was doing 30 doing Burdon bank in Ryhope- just managed to swerve out in time. Then a taxi indicated left and turned right on the same road. Fkin idiots everywhere!

out with @Oswald Ballbag a few weeks ago and a Dairywagon did the closest of close passes that could have only been deliberate.
Chased him down to a shop( doing his deliveries) in Easington lane and confronted driver....denied it was him and then claimed he was a cyclist himself, showing us his Altura jacket he was wearing

The fact he should know better if indeed a cyclist was lost on him

Anycase Oswald reported the driver to his bosses.....heard nowt back funny enough.

Guess it depends on the copper/force

I'd do it mind
