The Times - Donald - Loans

Worrying.

Sunderland are facing cash-flow problems only one month after Stewart Donald's takeover of the club, with the new owner speaking to seven financiers about securing loans to help kick-start his regime.

What the fuck?

Looking for shit to eat, proper rat you.

Weird how this directly contradicts what our owner is saying. One of them is lying, I instinctively believe the owner (why buy the club if you can't afford it within a month) but also why would the press hate us so much to lie about it? A strange one.

No surprise if their is a cash flow problem at the minute as the club would be chewing up cash at an alarming rate, but once fees for players are paid we will see expenses go down.

I don't.

I said its worrying if true.

You clearly a banned poster that doesn't like me, as you are trying to turn the focus on me rather than the subject.

What difference does it make what I think?

Talk about the actual article ffs

Could be.

IF true, my question would be surely he uses his own money for this. I understood Short wiped away the debt for this very reason.

He passed the proper person test by having to prove he had the finances in place to run the club . I doubt that would have been the case is he was cash strapped .
Let's start worrying if things go badly before Christmas not now when there are so many positive vibes animating from the club.

Donald did mention a bit of a hole in the finances due to money being due over the Alvarez debacle . Another 5M now due that they apparently were unaware of . He mentioned they were discussing it with Short . He also said the 20M on player payments was due soon ,so it may be related to this.

How the fuk can a 5 mill payment due to Inter on Alvarez be a surprise??

I mean there's due diligence with evey club sale... Sounds like either Don's books analysts dropped the ball or short was doing some cooking...

I wonder what else was missed or obsfucated??

That part does sound a bit worrying like.

I believe he said this was a final settlement that has just come in from whoever was adjudicating the case . That may be the surprise he was talking about and due to it not being in the total outstandings that were disclosed at the time of sale ,they are talking to Short about it.

Hope it's worked out.

Sounds like he May have told satori he'd get us out of league 1 with no investment from him needed until the champo... And now unplanned debts have the Don scrambling to monetize the shortfall with loans (if any of this reported shite is to be believed.)

Hopefully it complete shite.

Stewart Donald is their worst nightmare. Any shit they circulate on Twitter is rebuked by him pretty quickly. In the age of mass media it’s unprecedented for a club our size to have such a vocal owner on social media who quashes their crap.
I’m am wary to an extent, does all feel too good to be true however the owner had to put his hand on a lot of cash in his meeting with the EFL, with awareness of ‘fit and proper’ owners as high as it’s ever been. 20% of his shares are all but sold to a Uruguayan businessmen with links to one of the richest families in the world. I find we can be cautiously optimistic.

Being a billionaire and being able to put your hands on a billion pounds are two totally different things.

He could be rich on paper but maybe not cash rich. But it would be good enough to pass the fit and proper test. It isn't worth the paper it's written on. My club has found that out. They change the rules as they go along.

I wouldn't be worried yet. But the last thing I would do is take my eyes off the matter. Maybe he thought that it would be easy to sell players for a lot of money. This would have brought in a lot of cash and got rid of high wages. But it has been a struggle. The cash coming in is only covering the wage bill.

How did you get into this situation? Was it trusting your last owner 100% a couple of years ago or more?

Why dont everyone who is arguing just kiss and make up. For what its worth even if true, taking loans happens in football all the time

Surely it wont be long before he clears this up on Twitter. That is quite a scathing piece in a national paper.

Maybe if utter scum like your mate Cattermole weren't holding to ransom a club they'd helped relegate twice then we'd not have so many concerns over our finances?

So glad we've got so many good honest British pros in the squad as they're dead loyal and that.

Didn't he address this in his appearance on the Roker Report Podcast?? pretty sure he did...

This feels like a reporter hearing the podcast and making a story where one doesn't really exist.

Some fans are f***ing clueless. Why should Cattermole take a pay cut (again) or offer up any of his contract??? He signed it in good faith, and the whole squad fucked up, not on individual.

There is not one person on this board would take a 50% pay cut at work that they did't need to. No matter how much a player is earning, its crazy to assume they will take less when they don't have to. Any fan that expects or demands this is naive to say the least.
