Nobody wins it’s just a point of view

I think it’s a fair comment that we’ve picked a lot of players with good county records

You can just tell buttler has played in pressure situations for years now so it won’t phase him, which is half the battle

Hope it works long term

That is the key point he has looked very very calm under pressure situations time and time again.

He may yet fail mind because his technique may not be up too it.

However I don’t think soo aa think he is a top notch cricketer and have done since he first came on to the scene as a young lad at Somerset.

We should always give extra chances to players of his talent.

I mean we not exactly blessed them

Bess looks a cracking character and cricketer, its just can he bowl spin well enough, otherwise we are in the Mo Ali situation again

Should definitely drop Anderson as Vaughan was hinting at but didn’t dare say. He’s nee good anymore. Only averaging about 17 with the ball in the last 16 tests

Not convinced with Curran mind. Don’t see him having too much of a test match career. At his height you have to be pretty special at this level.

Aye back to work tomorrow for me then. Lancs v Yorkshire on Tuesday though.
With test finishing before Tuesday, I wouldn't mind that being on sky

Classic England. The are like the big dipper at Blackpool.

I've missed all today so hopefully will see a bit later and the highlights

I think the other curran as the one with more potential.

Appears to be a bit bigger and stronger

Totally agree.
5ft 9 and bowling at 80mph just isn’t going to cut it at this level I’m afraid.
Reminds me a bit of another diminutive left armer from the 90s Mike Smith.

I think in buttler, the more time he has at the crease, he will become destructive at the tail end.

He came out yesterday and played an IPL style clip to leg, which he got away with

He then reigned it back and then finally the full range came to fruition

He has every shot available to him and personally I would have had him in the team during the ashes, to give some back

As for his county average both Vaughan and Trescothick proved that it didn't matter as they had the class to flourish at test level, same as buttler will

He will be an all rounder, he swings it a lot, if he can be a top class batsman he will have a chance

He’s 19 like

The last point is overplayed like

Almost every other batsman has had a good average, so they are the exception not the rule

Vaughan only just about averaged 40 she was an awful ODI player, one of our most over rated batsman ever, lived off one tour to Australia

He’s not going to get any taller, might like woakes put on a yard of pace which will help but to have an impact as a bowler at this level when his height you have to be special.
Never seen enough of his batting to see how good he looks with that.

Gough is 5'9" - if Curran can up his pace to mid-80s then there's no reason why he couldn't have a career in international cricket. More likely in white ball cricket I'd say

Vaughan was a class batsman. Did you see the interview with James Taylor yesterday?

The FTECB have employed six people, including Taylor, to go around the country to look for players who they feel will be capable of playing test cricket.

He stated that although stats will be one area, they are being instructed to emphasis character, maturity and natural ability.
