1) there are questions about his technique when it’s doing something
2) his first class average is very iffy
3) he doesn’t play the game, so I don’t believe he should play tests
If he keeps it up, brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I want to win rather than be a smart arse on the internet
Just remember, he has 4 first class tons. I’ve got nearly as many as that

How many have Stoneman, Malan, Westly, etc got and they don’t look good enough
He looked good in the India series over there and has looked more comfortable than any player picked under Bayliss IMO

Buttler is Far too talented a player to not be in this Test side. Had there been an abundance of Test quality batsman available to us there’s an argument to not have him in the squad. There isn’t. He should have been in ages ago

But before selection he had been in nothing short of fantastic form in the IPL and his confidence was sky high.
Different format or not he came into this series in brilliant form and that coupled with his clear and obvious talent meant he was worth another go despite first class average.
There were fair arguments either way for his selection and you could see both arguments.however some of the comments on here suggested it was one of the worst selections in years!!

I think it’s a fair comment that we’ve picked a lot of players with good county records
You can just tell buttler has played in pressure situations for years now so it won’t phase him, which is half the battle
