Both fan bases are not similar at all you wet lettuce. One was getting 52k in the championship and one was getting 40k in the premiership and 24k in the championship.

I used to say Sunderland had good support until this season

Isn't supposition a wonderful thing? Your away following at Blackburn in 1979 suggests every set of fans can be pushed to a point where they don't want to attend games.

I can only comment on what I know and have seen. I started following Newcastle around 94 and I only remember st James' been full 99% of the time.

We are still the only club in the country not to have had a premier league gate under 30k too

You are Regiment aren't you?

:lol:

This is definitelty the best of the 3000 Mag posts we've had recently showing were not obsessed but they are.

What are you laughing at?

The crowd at Blackburn that night was less than 5000, including a hundred or so from Newcastle. I know because I was there.

You aren't special at all, you're like other clubs with fans who stop going when times are bad.

Run that past us again about the only club in the country not to have a Premier League gate under 30k?

I was laughing at the comment I responded too

Football was totally different in them days loads of clubs had small gates at times. We also took 10,000 plus to away games on occasions as well. I only talk in what I know and that's from mid 90s onwards

Yeah Newcastle united are the only club in England who have never had a premier league gate under 30k. Look it up if you want.

How many clubs in the country would get 52k after relegation? I'd say very very few or none.

Love to see some evidence of that claim. Seems spurious to me.

There's a good few. Man Utd. Liverpool..etc... Just won't happen to them.

Its true. Manure had 28/29k for a couple of pl games. Chelsea have had a lot of gates lower. Liverpool have had under 30k too. Our lowest is something like 30,600

Man United was during major rebuilding work which restricted their capacity. Their attendances piss all over yours and always have done.

I'm sceptical of this. Can't believe Man utd got close to that in the Premier League era.

I don't dispute that. Even though it's full of plastics and tourists.

Never mind how and why all I said is NUFC are the only club to never have had a PL gate under 30k and that's true.

- Newcastle have finished as the Football League's best supported club on no fewer than 10 occasions, whereas Sunderland have never finished as the League's best supported club:

Man Utd 34;
Everton 13;
Arsenal 12;
Newcastle/Chelsea 10;
Aston Villa/Liverpool 7;
Spurs 6;
Man City 3.

I know quite a few of your lot who had no connection to football let alone Newcastle when the team weren't winning. So careful about the plastics.
