 Even Ashley knows that gambling that another manager is good enough to keep this squad in the top flight is folly.

Well, I mean, they irrefutably did, so...

He's a modern manager man. He said "sports science" in a couple of interviews.

Shame if it happens and i'd be dissapointed of course, nice bloke and good manager.

I can see Rafa leaving if he has to generate money by selling players.Mitrovic will bring in the most money but he's playing in the World Cup,then he'll be on holiday for a few weeks,so the new season will be upon them before Rafa gets those funds.Rafa to West Ham !!

It's easy enough in the North East as there's no competing clubs and there isn't much else to do. Hence even a hint of success and the place is packed.

I agree. I am more referring to tourism. Majority of tourists are more likely to visit the capital and take in a game on their visit. I don't doubt there's a huge fanbase.

This is a nightmare for smaller clubs in the capital. I think Fulham do ok because there's plenty of exiled football fans who attend in their neutral end, but it's hard for teams like Charlton and Brentford to swell their attendances that much.

He should have been dragged into a meeting and asked why he only won the championship and only finished 10th this season. Hold him to account, mags!

So where's the but where Ashley says he won't get the control he wants?

Well reading between the lines with a viper like Ashley is always important.
He says he finds it derogatory to have them described as a championship squad. That may well be his genuine feelings, but as i trust him less than he trusts a treadmill, I'm taking that as "this squad managed 10th, they're more than capable of survival again".
He goes on to say "rafa as always my full support and I've told him he can have every penny the club generates". Like he said in August when he done a t.v. interview completely undermining what the manager was saying to the media. He also said the every penny the club generates a few times. We know that is lies as well.

I read the OP title and how many pages of replies, 12 already, and we call Newcastle obsessed.

They come to our ground to cheer on the opposition. They have blue moon cup final days. They have fanzines dedicated to us. They film themselves putting a flag of theirs on our gates.... We have a thread of 12 pages (which includes mag posters), on a football message board, (with a huge number of members), about their manager leaving... Aye its neck and neck here....

So he hasn't said it then, it wasn't "correct" and that's just your fanciful interpretation of what he actually said. Ok.

Dull as fuck  His teams, where he's had the attacking talent, have been free-scoring. His compact style and pragmatic approach shouldn't be confused with someone like Allardyce who only plays one way irrespective of the players available to him.

Yeah dull as fuck.

Free scoring

In 2005 when Gerrard won the CL for Liverpool, they scored 52 PL goals. That was less than Middlesbrough and the same as Chris Coleman's Fulham who finished 13th. And only 7 more than the bottom club Southampton.

we only sell 2000 tickets on a match by match basis though which mainly go to memebers

57000 capacity
52000 season tickets
3000 away fans

so only the 2000 left
