Ever been offered a bribe at work?

We had some integrity training today and were advised that “if someone offers you a cash bribe, politely refuse, but try and take a photograph of it as evidence”.

I can see most bribers being perfectly happy with this, especially in the middle of Kazakhstan or similar.

Had a bit of discreet bribe training in previous job, was urged not to take any item that could be deemed a bribe.....fuck that, I took the lot.

A pervy, possibly pedo, definitely gay ex-boss of mine offered to put me in a porn film he was making. I was 17 and working as a barman in a snooker hall at the time.

I quit the next day.

Do you work for the Daily Mirror?

I was at college and working PT, I looked about 15 man. Dinnit even think I was shaving yet. Pretty sure he was trying to nonce me like.

You could have been the next Dirk Diggler. Sounds very strange to be honest - I don't think anybody would have gone along with it.

There used to be a lad on here who asked the resident ladies if they wanted to be in such productions. I don't know if he posts under another username that isn't banned.

Long time ago used to sometimes cover magistrates court in Shields and people would often offer a few quid not to write the case up so it wouldn't make the paper. Most of the times wasn't going to anyway as they were small fry offences..shoplifting and such. But the rule was if anyone offered you anything not to write it then you had to write even if you hadn't planned to do so in the first place....so used to try and stop people before they got the words out their mouths

Yes. Some f***ing eejit in custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court started waffling on about money and costs etc. To be honest, I didn't get his angle on it at first as he was all over the place giving his instructions. Told him he didn't need to worry about money, it was covered by legal aid etc. As he continued to waffle on, it dawned on me he was suggesting I could get a wad of cash and make sure the Sheriff got some to ensure he would get bail (it was his first appearance he hadn't appeared before). Once I'd got that far, I started telling him quite loudly and clearly that I hoped he wasn't offering a financial inducement to me or the Sheriff, that's not how it worked etc. He changed his stance a bit after his brain started engaging and said I'd obviously misunderstood (had I fuck) and that he was offering money for bail. I explained that whilst very, very usual, it was competent. It was still, however, a matter for the Sheriff and, as much as anything else, I'd need to check with the member of family who was going to put up this money. Got the details, then as I was about to leave, told him (just so he was clear) that I'd need to get confirmation from the appointed member of his family; that they'd need to actually physically pay the money into the Sheriff Clerk's office before the Clerk would sign his bail order; and that if he broke any of his conditions of bail prior to the conclusion of proceedings, his bail would be revoked and the money forfeited.

He told me not to bother phoning his relatives.

Much to my surprise, he got bail anyway!

Yeah, I few times, it's how things are done in most of SE Asia.
I’m sure it’s how a lot of the world operates.
I know in places like China they prefer Western inspectors on the job as they aren’t as likely to by swayed by fear of the local party official’s cronies turning up at their house in the middle of the night. But I’m sure a lot of the Western inspectors do very nicely out of it in other ways.

I found that 'kick back' were more prevalent, adding an amount onto the agreed contract value which was then shared between the two doing the deal.
I was frowned upon for not accepting that practice.

Yes, yes they do. Excellent day rates for inspectors plus living allowance which rivals a salary over here.

Adobe suggested me and my then boss get the govt dept we worked for to pay for us to go to a conference in vegas for a week to talk about the project we were working on and they'd 'look after us' while we were there...

unfortunately it was an absolute non starter as the tight fuckers wouldn't even entertain the thought of sending us.

Shirely working as a waiter in a cocktail bar?

Beat me to it!

I was working as a barman in a snooker hall,
When I met you...

Love a little back hander me like ;)

Done a few jobs at a karate centre, got loads of backhanders.

It happens in this country aswell ,believe me.

Never in this world!;) My eyes were opened at 18. A subby gave me a cost and asked how much for me. He’d basically hoy a was thru your letterbox or do you a guvvy job for that sum.
Seen this as a test from above so knocked it back but it went on for years after.

Surely some of yous working places wonder why the same dogshit suppliers are used year after year, decade after decade.
