Remission

Saw gastro and I'm in remission :D

I'm on two different drugs at the moment. I've got to start tapering off one over the next three months and then wait three months and see him again. If I'm still ok then, he'll start tapering me off the other one.

I'm not cured and the Crohn's could flare up again at any time, but if I take care of myself, he said I've got a good chance of being healthy for a while *fingers crossed*

Excellent News

I know the inflammation from the Crohn's appears in other body parts when it's flaring. It's common to get things like random joint pains or inflamed gums. It's odd how it affects your whole body and not just your guts.

Stress is a trigger. It kicked off like crazy when my Dad had his heart attack and stroke in India and we didn't know if he would ever get home.

When it flares, I struggle with day to day stuff and I'm on my own so there's nobody to pick up the slack. Everything builds up and that makes the bigger picture look worse, then it seems harder to deal with and so on. That's when I feel low and that I'm failing as I'm not coping. Maybe he's got something like that going on. Talk to him if you can, although I appreciate it's a hard one to approach. Hope he gets sorted xx
He’s got all sorts, from stuff that’s happened in his life, a lot of stuff.

Couple that with ill health, including a stroke. It’s really, really difficult to get anything out of him at the moment.

Make your mind up.

Does your dad have Crohns too then?

Is it like Lupus and present differently in different people just to make it all the more fun?

Not sure if my dad’s got Crohns, he’s got fairly decent toilet habits although there was shit on his toilet seat the other week when I went in.

Great news Becs.
Stay cool for the new season and keep off the balti pies.

Awww poor bloke :( It could be the stroke as well. My Dad is different emotionally since he had his stroke.

Do you have anything to do with the Stroke Association? They hold social groups my parents go to on a Friday afternoon. It alternates between Sunderland and Washington. Do you think he would go to something like that as getting him out and about might help.

They also go to a lovely group in Bethany Church at Houghton on Tuesdays. That's for all old people. They have different activities going on but there's no pressure, so if he walked into a room and decided he didn't like it, nobody would mind him walking back out again. They get their dinner there and sometimes they have guest speakers on. I did attend a few weeks ago as Dad wanted me to hear the speakers (Monty and Dick Malone!) so I can vouch that it is a nice group and he'd be made very welcome.

Maybe he left that there for you ;)

Does he eat well?

Aye, cheers da!

No, all I seem to buy him is sausages.

He’s lost all will to actually do anything.

Groups probably won’t help right now as he’s at rock bottom. Trying to get him to the mental health team but he constantly avoids their calls et.

Anyway, this is about Becs and not my dad.
