taking kids on holiday outside of school holidays

It does thanks.
Was beginning to think everyone expected a family holiday away every year and just took their kids out of school to save paying too much for it.
Last time we went away was the back end of September 2016. We're doing a few days in Skegness with her family this summer. Will probably do something next easter if we can get a deal, if not next summer.

I realise this, it just saddens me that you have to miss out on a holiday, especially when you're single. Can you not even get away with your mates?

I expect two holidays minimum, prefer that to spending £70 PW on tabs.

Not smoking is usually a norm these days. You don't get credit for that. Especially when you have decided to breed so prolifically.

I was in Boston for a weekend in November but I can't go away this year. At least not far if I do. It's fine. I'll most likely try and get over to Ireland and I don't want to miss my brother and his kids in August. I'll probably take him over to Ireland and help with the kids.

Farming aswell, impossible to get away at all during the summer holidays

My family are farmers and that depends entirely on their situation and what they farm etc.

You know the reason why we have the whole of August off is for the harvest so don't go feeling sorry for them.

Random. It's strange you seem to have a problem with me having three kids tbh.

Don't you come from a much larger family yourself?

Great. Hope you have fun.

Yes I have lots of brothers and sisters but we didn't need to go on holiday during term time.

You mean your parent (s) didn't want to?

I don't need to, I want to as it's cheaper. They don't miss out on much when they're off, there's only one of them old enough to be of compulsory school age.

I'll save a few grand, maybe put it towards another holiday.

I just prioritise education and going to school above practically everything else.

This is what you're just not getting.

Education is not just about school & books, but also life experiences. The family holiday is every bit a part of this.
Denying your child this experience & education for ideological reasons is just barmy.

So no, you're not prioritising education, as you're failing to recognise certain things as educationally beneficial.

Btw im sitting here watching the bbc news discussing gambling addiction. But hey, you think its ok as it teaches maths.

This is what you're just not getting.... have all the family holidays you want. Just don't take your children out of school.

I was a croupier my father was a bookie. I understand gambling.
Don't bet what you can't afford to lose.

Don't breed if you can't live without term time holidays.

I will take them out if term time is the only viable option.

As i told you before, my trip next year would be a fantastic experience, but if i had kids i wouldnt be able to go. Not because of price, but because simply it wouldnt exist. A primary school kid will get far far more out of a family holiday in term time (towards the end of the term when school is winding down & do hardly any work) than staying at school & not having a holiday.

And easier said than done with gambling. It can become an addiction that destroys lives.

Thought you must have about 8 kids!!!

Cat is coming across quite bitter here. Must have been the lack of holidays. Reckon she was sent across the sea to cut turf for the summer.
I am a bit pissed off. I usually go somewhere hot in Feb and I'm really feeling the lack of it this year. Work is going to be stupid for a while longer too.

Gambling can destroy lives. As can never going to school. You are resorting to unsubstantiated superlatives. It doesn't follow and it makes you look more stupid if possible.

Why would it be the only viable option to go in term time? For you specifically? My mates have already booked their holidays with their kids at least a year in advance so they know now about their holidays.

Don't any of you term time holiday takers have children with extra curricular activities? School concerts were always at the end of term.

Thanks :D:cool:

You are encouraging kids to gamble
Having a week off when the school is winding down is not encouraging kids to 'never' go to school.

As ive now said for the 3rd time. My next holiday is available for a just a single week in the whole year for kids. Its the week after half term. If i want to give my kids that experience, no amount of planning can alter that.

Go for it! This country is unbelievable.
Cut the education budget and force your kids into surbitude!

My word you really are a dolt.

Teaching a child how to play cards is to ruining your life with a gambling addiction what taking your child out of school on the last day of term is to keeping them out of school all year.

Re your holiday... get over it and book it for next year, now. What are you doing with your children for their actual half term out of interest?
