I know this, what point are you trying to get at?
Are you trying to say Ashley did well by allowing Rafa to re-invest 55 million of the 85 million raised from the players we sold? If this is what you are trying to say then I agree with you as would most Newcastle fans.

We all have a bit of bias toward our teams and against our rivals, some people do take it to the point of stupidity though.
But most Newcastle fans don't agree with this ( on here anyway) claiming Rafa hasn't been backed.

Oh well that's that then. That he's spent two years building a team, coaching them and has them playing the way he wants won't come into it. If Leicester offer him a slightly larger budget he'll go to there.
he wont go to leicester but i think he would consider everton, and his wife still lives on the wirral so i pressume he does also.

Like I said, the only mention I can find of it is in a Mick Dennis article and on this board. That makes me highly doubtful. If you have any other evidence of this incident from the early 80s, I'm willing to look at it.

Still waiting for those quotes from Shepherd as well.

He obviously made it up around the same time as well man, conspiracy agin everyone's second team....Jonjo the quarterback should be in the Ingerrlund team instead of the daft mackem Captain......still, at least ye can see the planes coming in from ya lopsided Cooncil carbuncle

Rafa likes to spend and Leicester have got deeper pockets than the mags atm.

Not sure, they'll have to pay the £6m release fee then Feed the Fooka on top of that.......

This is not true.
The vast majority of Newcastle fans including the ones on here were more than happy with the way Rafa was backed the season we went down. We were happy with Ashley for the way he kept hold of Rafa and were happy with the amount of money he was allowed to spend to help us bounce back at the first attempt.
What we are not happy with is the amount Rafa was backed with at the start of this season and I suspect we will not be happy with the amount he is backed with for the coming season.

The amount of money invested in the squad post Rafa's arrival and the amount of money invested in the squad since Ashley took over the club are two different subjects. I'm happy to discuss either if you want a sensible conversation on it.

Not a bad response , ok then it was a successful season, Again!

Will be interesting to see what Rafa gets.
What do you think would be a competitive budget?

My gut feeling is Ashley will think this squad can stay up without investment and he will allow fuck all to be invested and Rafa will leave. I'm hoping my gut is wrong but not holding my breath.

It depends if you mean competitive to compete in the top half or to make sure we stay up and in truth I haven't got a clue for either.

The best way I could answer the question is this.
Rafa has said he wants a budget that is within the clubs means, enough of the money that we make re-invested back into the squad to show we have at least the ambition to knock on the door at those top six.
If he gets that he will be happy and I will be happy, what that figure is I have no idea.
I don't expect Ashley to be selling shares in sports direct and throwing that money at managers.
What I do expect is for him to allow the club to maximise it's revenue streams and put a reasonable amount of that money back into the squad with the ambition to improve.

You need to accept that it really happened.

Robson dropped Keegan from the England squad and when he attended the next match at The Landfill, he received abuse from the crowd, not one or two, but thousands. He was jostled and spat on, but took it all in his stride. People are now trying to pretend this never happened as Robson is regarded as one of the few gentlemen of football, and this type of behaviour shows mags up for what they are.

You probably have no recollection either of the time at Chelsea a few year later when loads of mags hurled abuse and spat on the disabled Chelsea supporters and their carers.

All clubs have idiots, but don’t try to rewrite history and claim your lot are innocent.

He'll get between 50 and 70 net imo. Though given they need to spend to stand still to replace outgoing loans, and also badly need a couple of strikers I don't think that's a huge amount

I think I will back him this year now he will have made up losses caused by relegation.

There's plenty articles on Darren Bent's mum being racially abused too.
All football clubs have idiots.
