I dont see any improvement in perez and shelvey. if anything they performed better before rafa arrived.

lascelles for me is overrated always has a clanger in him.

Unless u get huge investment next season i see you regressing. teams know how youll setup now and your squad is poor
I would disagree, I see them week in and week out which might give me a better perspective.
I think Dummett has come along in leaps and bounds as well.

I would agree without investment we will go backwards due to the fact that everyone else will spend and improve.

As you are a newly promoted club. A club builds slowly You dont got 10th 8th 6th 4th. It doesnt happen without huge investment. For next 5 seasons NUFC should look to lay foundations for future. If that means playing youngsters and dropping a few places in the league thats what you do. The real progress is winning a cup and finishing top 6. Unless your doing that doesnt matter where you finish as long as its not the bottom 3.

I agree with that. Perhaps I could've elaborated. I would just be indifferent towards finishing 14th. Its a nothing of a season. Not any sort of achievement. 10th place when our aim is survival is enjoyable, but meaningless. People are excited by 10th, which is a sad indictment of the league as a competition. Unless you get into Europe or get relegated then your league position is pretty meaningless. It's dull as f*ck just making up the numbers in the league. Wouldn't be celebrating a 10th place finish next season, nor would i celebrate surviving relegation. 8th place gets mentioned as a target but its still nowt to write home about, doesn't get you anything and is only 2 places better than a 10th.

Dear me, the higher you finish the more money you get so I think you will find it does matter where you finish!

8 of the 11 players that started yesterday were all regulars in the championship last season, shows exactly what Rafa is up against and for that team to finish 10th is a fantastic achievement. Any average manager would have finished bottom three easily with that team.

Only 3 of your starting 11 have played more games in the championship than the prem (Lascelles, Ritchie and Murphy).
But keep on telling yourself you have a championship squad if it makes you think Rafa is some sort of god.

17th to 8th theres probs a 10m difference. doesnt even buy you a championship striker.

£1.9m per place I believe, so £19m difference.
Probably need to spend a lot more than the prize money on offer to improve a 17th placed team to turn them into an 8th placed team

Not this shit again.
Right Rafa has been involved in three seasons at your club 15-16 (all be it only for the back end), 16-17 and 17-18.
In those three seasons fat Mike has sanctioned £166m for new players or £55.3m per season.
You are not at the same level of the two Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool or Everton so what the fuck do you expect?

The Newcastle squad has had no investment since Rafa arrived, the investment is a negative sum.
As long as that remains the case I would expect the squad to go backwards as all other premiership club will have a positive figure invested into the the squad.

Like I said 8 our the 11 that started yesterday were regulars last season, that tells you everything he is up against, he’s not a god but he’s a fantastic manager, of the current premier league managers only Pep and Mourinho have achieved and won more than him. I think Sunderland fans are the only set of supporters in the country who don’t rate him as a manager.

Plenty of people doubted we would stay up, doubted benitez would stay the season, doubted top 10. Just had to look at this board alone for that. So in that respect, the doubters were proved wrong.

Can't recall Shepherd ever claiming Newcastle were bigger than Barcelona. I'd love to see those quotes though.

No more than your own fans and shit rag, slating the Fat Cockney pre Jan when ye started to win a few.........Shepherd said it, ye were all waving ya nobs in the air.....Google it

You're quoting the media man not the fans. If you believe the media it's no wonder we can't understand owt you say

Quoting ya ex Chairman, but hey, let the selective amnesia kick in.....

Ah shit I forgot to factor in the net spend.

What you seem to forget is the season you went down you had a net spend of £73m.

People say lot's of stupid things, just look at you.
Mags as collective do not think we are better than Barcelona. The Chronicle claiming we have proved the doubter wrongs would be fair assuming they are talking about the people who didn't think we would stay up. Mags were slagging Ashley off for the lack of money spent this season and still are, none of us have been slagging our Championship players off as a group at any point in the season. None of us think they are are world class.

I'm pleased for you that titles won back in the 1800's give you solace while playing in League 1, unfortunately for me I can't say that about trophies we won before I was born, they give me no solace at all.

Part of our History love, no future in it but the pots are on the sideboard........what else do ye play for? A Fookin failed "Entertainers" badge?
Vast majority of the Orks slagged ya "Championship" team off pre-chrimbo, b4 ya werld class bus driver cobbled a few wins together.......Deluded.com

Point stands. factor in wages as well not just fee. its not life changing amounts unless you qualify for Europe
