just to say that the ironical thing is that had Durham not collapased then none of this would have happened as the game would have petered out into a tame draw

Good point, we would have been saying good rearguard action to escape with a draw

In hindsight the runs scored by Weighell and McCarthy in both innings proved vital

Cracking win and not sure if he still gets on here but DJ Mackem to be fair has been banging on about how good an all rounder Weighell since before he was released by the club. Looks like he could prove DJ right.

Tbf he looks like he can belt a ball.

Should be looking to get him up the order in the shorter format (although we have been there before with that argument on Durham players).

My first full day down there in a year or so. What a day. Rushys spell the best I've seen for a long time. Weighell quality with bat and ball. Shout out to Smith early in the day. Think he did a great job in tricky conditions

It was so free - I didn't back it myself

I honestly thought we had a slim chance, after all, we've done it before (and had it done to us - Trent Bridge 2015) but I didn't want to say that on here. If you go back through the entire thread, it's not the only time I've written us off - I try the reverse curse with regularity, call me stupid, say what you like, but I love being wrong

Unbelievable effort - they keep doing it to us but they really don't give in and that's why we love them!

Quite apart from the first time we've won a game as a 1st class county after following on, it was historic for another reason....

It was the first time we've beaten Leicestershire at home, and this means that every 1st class county has beaten every other 1st class county home and away in the CC.
