Mr Ellis Short, Sunderland loves you more than you will know.

I will get plenty of stick for this post however we are going to be debt free for the first time in as long as I can remember and in a position to rebuild. We spent years struggling in the premier league and need to move on from that however during Shorts time here I went to my first final with the club which I will be forever greatful for

We now have new owners who will be able to give it a proper go.

Haway!

He’s written the debt off which I’m very grateful for but let’s not go over the top, we are still in league one because of him.
Maybe it always needed to happen though given the rotten core etc. Time to re-build. The most excited I have been since the Quinn and Keane connection

Ecstatic he’s gone, fair play to wipe the debt but he nearly ruined the club.
How did he? The players and managers along with exec team have a hand in what is going on on the pitch. Off the pitch we have no debt and a chance to restructure.

Arguably we are in a better position than when he took over the club, as we had unserviceable debt at that point hence why he got involved

I've never been at ease with his tenure and think he's been a poor owner but what I will say is that I never thought he was a bad fella or doubted he had the best interests of the club at heart, he just made some terrible mistakes and didn't really understand what he was doing. Clearing the debt is a fantastic gesture by him but I think it's fair to say we deserve it. Could it have been done sooner? Who knows but it's now a closed chapter and we can all move on and Ellis can at least leave with a bit of credit.

I still can't believe he's done it.

I think that's the thing, these deals do not take a week to put together with lots of moving parts. I suspect it was linked in a way to relegation with final points hammered out once it was known which league we would be in next season

To be fair, many of his poor decisions led us to the sorry financial predicament we now find ourselves in. He failed massively and deserves little praise considering we now find ourselves in league one.

Much respect for wiping the debt however.

Cheers Ellis you brought our club to its knees, and have now passed it onto a guy from the National league, don't come back

Is that the seeds of the first 'Donald Out' thread planted already?
