There are a few on here who go massively over the top with the feminism - I enjoy baiting them.
Well good for you. Why not get a proper hobby? And it doesn't really make misogyny or any kind of insulting post ok. People go massively over the top, or in reality just react normally to sexist shit, because you go massively over the top.

Are club's outside the eight, going to receive some compensation ?

All being held at the eight chosen grounds

The rest of the country don't count, in this brave new era

This new audience will have to make do with BBC coverage. Now aren't we supposed to be encouraging youngsters to play sport and not stay in houses watching TV or playing computer games?

All those potential new cricket fans, will have to travel if they want to see this.

No doubt these franchises will be tapping the hell out of the players, they will pluck from the likes of Durham and others deemed unworthy.

How many kids watch games at the 10 grounds that are being mothballed for 5 weeks? Let's say 4,000.

One hundred times that will watch the games on the BBC, so I don't think your argument holds there.

Aye, £1.3m per season.

i hear your point but it will be peak summer and surely the kids should be out playing, rather than watching the likes of foreign t20 mercenaries hitting sixes?

i think more than 4000 kids would attend for the other ten mind. More than 400 per game, Durham achieve that easily in the current t20 blast

i doubt mind different forms being trialled but I'm totally against it being for a chosen few

it will lead to the 10 others losing their better players, as they will be tapped to hell, while they are playing for the 8

as for the second point, cheers

I grew up with the 40 over Sunday League and miss those days. You couldn't have a tournament, played in a block in this format though, sadly, unless it was solely Saturday/Sunday and TV wouldn't have that. T20 is OK if it is played with big boundaries and decent pitches where 160 is a good score. Games of 200+ just don't appeal to me as it becomes a 6 hitting competition

As a batsman I just want to say how much I enjoy bowlers being completely humiliated. The poor little souls, crying because the pitch doesn't do all their work for them.

Power to the willow!!

Without wanting to rehash an old argument, kids won't go out and play cricket though as they don't know it exists.

As for 10 counties losing their players, have you read about how this comp will work? The players sign for one of the 8 franchises, not one of the 8 counties that play at the venues. It should be fine from that perspective.

Big hitting and batsman who attack have always put bums on seats , and fans have always enjoyed that

While appreciate T20 is not everybody's cup of tea on here, it clearly is popular as competitions throughout the world prove.

Most cricket fans new and old imo, enjoy big hitting than watching and talking about players having a good leave and knowing where their off stump is! and always have imo.

However I think a new '100 ball idea is a step too far!!

Surely you should be right behind it? The shorter the game the less value on wickets and more on clearing the rope, so that should lead to less of the boring stuff like beating the bat or those stupid outdated defensive pushes.

I, for one, can't wait to be seen on camera wearing my branded merchandise attempting to catch the ball one handed. I hope they get Steven Mulhern to do the crowd interaction stuff, he's really really really funny.

I think there is point in anything we have you say enough is enough.

T20 imo is excellent and entertaining to watch the current IPL has been excellent to watch with high quality and very close finishes and clearly is very much enjoyed by all concerned the players and fans alike, that is very much a fact whether others like it or not and that is from a massive cricket loving country.

Pre T20 you could not get a country that loved cricket more than India yet they have embraced it!!

However to enjoy something to me is always a question of balance and for me personally going even lower than 20 overs is a step too far.

Not sure why you see the need for the Steven Mulgern crack and the scarasm.

Apparently Rushy twittered yesterday that you wouldn't get him bowling an 10 ball last over.

Sadly, the likes of him and many many others won't get a chance to play.

But if the point your making is that people want to see the ball clear the rope, then 100 balls is better than 120 as the emphasis is even more on slogging. Why not just do away with bowlers, get couple a of bowling machines and pack the XI with batters.

This idea deserves all the sarcasm thrown at it.

might be having the same conversation about t20 in a year or two time when 100 ball cricket destroys that anarl

I wasn't just talking about t20 cricket, you honestly don't see the benefit of having a match of the day type cricket round up show?

The IPL and the big bash are too popular for that to happen mate,I think the ECB are obviously looking for a new angle to make the new competition different and are making a mistake imo.

Yeah like I say this idea is bad one, as people imo do prefer to see big hitting like I say.

But only up to a point and this step is too far imo.

I think the problem is cricket people tend to place too much emphasis on all the side stuff going on rather than the actual cricket which is very enjoyable imo.

all the stuff around the side do detract from the cricket like it or not.

this might make us sound a thousand year old when in reality I'm fairly young [for a cricket fan;)] but I get a lot of enjoyment out of being at the cricket for reasons aside from the cricket. this is very easily spoilt by blasting out pop music and large amounts of pissed up idiots dressed up like superheros and the like

I must admit mate I was thoroughly looking forward to the T20 international last September and my enjoyment was spoilt by a group of idiots behind me pissed up screaming at the top of their voice abuse to their player on the boundary rather than been interested in the cricket.
