The sunderland strangler Steven greivson

We watched the documentary last night , one thing that had me puzzled was something the journalist said about the original investigation into the murder of the first boy in the deserted house . He said something about there having been five murders in Sunderland in about a week at that time and that the police had a lot going on , I just can’t recall what other murders he could have been on about in 1990 .
Aside from that it was interesting to watch but so sad to think that in all likelihood at least one of those lads may have been spared if it had been properly investigated.
from memory
simon
one down Hendon where a woman was killed
2 in Washington where a son killed his parents with a crossbow
I am sure there was another but I just cant think of it

Possibly murders across a wider area than Sunderland alone? Northumbria police and all that.
I can think of 4 in sunderland and I am sure there is another

All I could recall was George Botham who was shot in Hollycarside , I think that was 1990

Listen scratts....i know from inside the police what happened, not the "sanitised" version.

You’re original post on this thread was fundamentally wrong so I’m confident that you don’t.

What the fuck are you on about? The police fucked up and their investigation into that murder and also the the grievson casesand were nothing short of incompetent. The Heron interviews are so pathetically inept as to be laughable, he admits nothing but is cajoled and coaxed into saying things that for the most part he doesn't even understand. Someone on here said that the interviews are now used by police to illustrate the completely wrong way to carry out an interview. The police discontinuing their search for any other suspect was a spiteful and self serving decision to make it look like heron was the murderer but they couldn't prove it.

The interview is or certainly used to be used during the CID training course as just that.

Yeah.....he confessed but theyd beat it out of him and not let a solicitor get to him.
He confessed to things only the killer could know. The catholic church had him in hiding in ireland after he was freed.
They can never use his confession and simply dont have enough otherwise.

Litterally got away with murder.......george herron.

According to people who heard the tape, Heron didn't have a clue how she died and he was led down a path.

The police totally fucked up the investigation into his first known victim. As a 16 year old at the time I knew they were barking up the wrong tree.

the pathologist calls the shots as to how a person died

Didn’t her family successfully sue him in a civil prosecution, which would indicate he's probably guilty?
yes but never able to trace him IIRC

In a civil case to be found guilty it doesn't have to 'be beyond reasonable doubt' just on the 'balance of probability'

you talking about Simon. That was not linked to grieveson until years later
Yes I know. Just because grievson wasn't in the frame at the time, doesn't mean it wasn't obvious the person they arrested hadn't done it.

It was your comment about the pathologist and the cause of death that confused me. What's that got to do with the police arresting the wrong ?

Anyone know if is this available to view online or if it is coming back on.

That whole case was beyond bizarre with people dying and no mention of any foul-play then it turned into a multiple murder investigation overnight.

I remember one where a woman was strangled with a shoe lace. A bloke called Lawson did it.

I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread that it’s on catch up and will be repeated on Saturday
