The value of good coaching. I’m not sure there is much difference between our squads after relegation. A top coach would have had Sunderland pushing for play offs.

To be honest they are about where I thought they would be. They have some good players, some average premier league players and some filler. Much like those all around them. Benitez has done very well to organise them, keep the squad spirit good, they look fit and motivated. He has done well, nobody can deny that. However he is no miracle man, the achievement isnt a miracle, its a job done well.

Or many others, they didnt come up with a rag bag of a squad. There was loads of premier league experience in there. Well managed, par season. Interesting to see what happens next as the kicking on bit is where most clubs come unstuck as keeping the work ethic, team spirit going beyond one season and also adding quality very rarely happens. Thats not taking anything away, before all the Mags jump on it, its just the way it goes.

The fact being when safc relegated nufc with 6 in a row derby defeats there wasn’t a peep from a mag on here. You only come out your closet or sign up as a newbie when it’s going smoothly for you.
