The Mags truly believe that under Rafa they can close the yawning gap between them and the big six. However without spending extortionate amounts on transfer fees and wages they probably wont. It's all about players and the very best don't want to come to the North East. When Rafa won trophies he usually had the best players available, even at Valencia he was left a very good squad. Even a billionaire like Fat Mike can't or won't compete and it will get even worse in the future. Rafa will be gone at the first offer from a club with the money to compete. All this talk of Rafa loves wa is sentimental silliness.
