Why they suddenly went short no idea

Root tries to much for me like, keep it simple

He obviously doesn't do his homework. Even I know Boult like to show his stumps, why bowl f***ing short you f***ing dolt.

Cook got to grow a pair of balls here.

If we had a credible alternative you would think he would be playing for his future, but you know that even with another failure he'll still be opening at Lords on the 24th May.

And so he should be, don't write off players like that, that easy, they are hard to find

Well done, gone cheap again. Reminiscent of Bell and Trott's final games.

Stop being a bit of you'll go back in ignore. We bowled poorly after the first new ball spell.

Pardon?

Stoneman and maybe Vince definitely have something, they haven't been helped by Cook's awful form. Basically opening the bat together.

Vince could be a decent player at 6 for example, unfair he is going in at 3, I just don't think he is a 3, he is a middle order player who plays his shots, like Bairstow.

I'm convinced Rocky is good enough, he looks the best who we have tried IMO, even though he has scored less than some. If Cook was in his prime all this would be a lot easier, but he is in his last few years.

I still had faith in Ballance when he got called up after averaging 100, he should have played 5 against the older ball, yet Root stuck him at 3

These lads have had enough chances but they haven't been helped.

Don't like this culture in the game now where all contributions other than a 100 are ignored. If you make constant contributions then you should be in the side, not just a 100 and then 5 single figure scores

To be fair to Vince he's a lovely looking batsman when he's in full flow, reminds me a little of Gower.

Dam, chased a wide one, just didn't move his feet, got to try and score I guess though

He is doing his job though, seeing off the new ball, getting 50s

He needs to do more. Best test score of 60 isn’t good enough sadly.

50s don’t win games

Not sure I agree, openers job is to see off the new ball and set the game up for themiddle order

People become obsessed with only 100s count.

No point getting a 100 then 5 single figure scores

56, 35, and 60 this series, for an opener, that will do me

Stoneman is a the same for England as he was for Durham, just doesn't cut it at international level for me, he's lucky we have a slim pickings currently at No 1/2 to choose from otherwise he would be out on his ear...

He's just scored 60, yet he's getting criticism

I'm lost.

We are now 149/2 brilliant position thanks to Rocky and Vince
