Cheating Aussie B******s

They can't take any action against Lehman at this stage as they have no actual evidence that he was involved and Lehman denies being involved.
The problem for Lehman is that if he is speaking with folk tongue then it will come out, and he will be crucified. The journalist will be banging into all their contacts within the Aussie set up, just think of all the back up team like medical staff and analyst who are in and out of the dressing room during the days play, somebody will crack if there is a story to tell or if someone dislikes Lehman.

So, 12 month bans for Smith and Warner. Is that from all cricket, or just International?

Just for Australia (and possibly Australian domestic cricket) because that's all that Cricket Australia control - if the ICC get involved then it could include worldwide bans but as for now it's only CA, they can only legally stop those individuals from playing for and in Australia.

Similar with Stokes and the ECB.

Or they offer enough money for a mole to speak up

National governing body approval would be required as well. ECB approved Stokes going to NZ

Don't CA have to approve centrally contracted players playing for non-Aus teams?

Yes, but they probably wouldn't want the legal shitstorm if they stopped those players from trying to earn a wage elsewhere - again, a la Stokes and the ECB's granting of his Canterbury trip.

Quite, as highlighted above ;)

Who would want to touch them though? 12 month for cheating? Wouldnt sit well with me if Beefy pulled out the cheque book for any of them

Bans seem to include State cricket aswell according to some journos.

No your right but what is the line? do they say no sweets on the field? No sugary drinks at the break?

It's a very grey area, as admitted by Vaughan on the TMS Podcast - but things like chewing gum, sweets, lip creams etc can't really be outlawed and so it's generally accepted they're part of the game (Du Plessis being the obvious exception down to the witch hunt by the holier than thou Aussies). Intentionally taking an item onto the field such as abrasive tape in order to alter the condition of the ball is quite a clear distinction to the above however. In my opinion.

Yeah maybe. Relatively is what I meant I guess.

It’s been interesting listening to the outrage, and at times it has not been joined up. Vaughan wittering about how the use of Murray mints is ok because it’s saliva and there is no proof that sugar helps was random (especially given Trescothicks book).

Don’t get me wrong, the Aussies are a pretty horrible and hypocritical team, but the outrage has been hypocritical as well
I suppose so, relatively, but this seems worse to me on several levels.

Yes I suppose it has been hypocritical in some parts, I think Dan Roan haranguing the Australian team in the airport is appalling for example, although I don’t think that’s what you’re talking about. Overall though I’m surprised our media hasn’t gone after them more savagely
in some parts too.

I too didn’t expect the Australian public and media to be so outraged, but I think the outrage in general not being joined up reflects the muddled nature of the whole affair. There are so many unanswered questions and unclear aspects to it all. It is fascinating.

Just seen this bit on cricinfo

Not that I think either of the will even consider captaincy again I'm sure

On the contrary, it wouldn't surprise me if both of them put themselves up for it as soon as they can - they're both shithouses of the highest order.

More on Warner

In addition, Warner will not be considered for any leadership position in the future, a reflection of his role in this event and an “apparent lack of contrition”, according to a CA statement detailing the sanctions.

The offending trio are banned from all international cricket and domestic cricket in Australia, but can still play and are encouraged to return to club level to help re-connect with the cricket community.

However, in the wake of being suspended, Smith and Warner have both had their Indian Premier League contracts torn up, confirmed IPL commissioner Rajiv Shukla.

The pair were on $2.4 million contracts and had stood down from the captaincy from their respective clubs before the IPL banned them from season 2018.

Each banned player must also complete 100 hours of community service before being considered for future selection.

A key finding from the investigation was that sandpaper was used by Bancroft to rough up the ball, which goes against what the Test rookie said after play on Saturday when he and Smith fronted the press at Newlands.
