Affinity Photo

I haven't but I'd love to hear some feedback. I'm currently paying $30 per month for creative cloud, and I'd love to get rid of that.
I`m still using Photoshop Elements and have downloaded the free Lightroom trial for this month to try it out but I just don`t fancy paying monthly for something if it`s not significantly better than PSE. I think I`ll download the free Affinity trial when my Lightroom trial runs out and see what it`s like.

Has anyone used Affinity Photo?

I`ve been hearing some good things about it and it`s loads cheaper than Light Room and Photoshop.

Is it a decent alternative???
It's great for the price, I like the fact it's got focus stacking and HDR built in to the software instead of using plugins. I'm a week into the 10 day free trial and some of it is a bit different to Elements, for example I like putting a border on a image and it's easy in Elements to just change canvas size, but in Affinity you have to clart around with layers and it's not intuitive. I am going to buy it though as I think when I have mastered it it will be a lot better than the Elements I use now (10)

Did you end up buying it? Any more feedback?

I am just playing with the trial version now.

Yes I bought it, no brainer for 50 notes (on offer) I sometimes wished at the start I'd stuck with Photoshop/LR but didn't want to get tied down with a monthly payment. Great piece of software when you get used to it. The Affinity forum and tutorials on youtube were a godsend for me mind

Is it ok for converting RAW images?

Yes, that's one of the main reasons I got it, my Elements/LR wouldn't handle the RAW files for my new (to me) camera and I didn't want to get into Adobes monthly payment scheme.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I'm a bit of a novice with this 'editing' thing - I have a Nikon D3300 and have just been using their own NX-2 editing software.
Fancy upgrading a bit, but I don't want anything particularly confusing , or have to pay monthly for.

Affinity might be a bit complicated if you haven't any previous editing experience, just my opinion but Adobe Elements is a bit simpler to get the hang of. If you wanted to open RAW files for your D3300 you would have to get Elements 12 or newer, about £40-50 on ebay.

I've been using this for a month now, and I love it.

I have been using it quite a bit for 360x180 work recently. Its not without its bugs and crashes with alarming regularity when processing very large images, but the ability to easily do an equirectangular projection view and patch the nadir is brilliant.

Aye - but don't tell my potential customers. Too many of them already seem to think they can spend 20 seconds with an iPhone and Facebook to achieve what takes me a day to do!
I've noticed it's dropped to £13.99 in the app store. Would it be ok to use on an ipad pro ?
I can't sit at a computer these days, since I acquired a ruptured disc and sciatica. The ipad has been a god send.
