We have Root, Stokes and Bairstow scoring heavily at extremely high scoring rates, we miss Trott more.
Pietersen has been replaced.
Which one is it to be? You can't use three players in order to say one man has been replaced.
I'd say Root is the more natural replacement, but at present he's got a real problem scoring hundreds - which essentially is what wins you Test matches. He's one of the biggest talents I've ever seen play for England and I'm immensely excited about watching his progression, hopefully in time he'll surpass everyone and become our most prolific batsman of all time - but I think people are letting their dislike of KP seriously cloud their judgement.
KP, whether you like him or not, was one of the most influential players in not only winning us our first Ashes series in forever, but also in elevating us to number one Test side in the world. His performances, professionalism and determination brought out the best in his teammates and that MUST be acknowledged.
Nasser Hussain may have started the turnaround, but the next generation carried it to the next level. Without KP we may be sat here now, still without an Ashes win since 1986.
