Should we get rid of the 1p and 2p coins?

No. Only reason currencies disappear is for the benefit of the banks. Fuck em. Bring back the half penny I say.

Agreed. If they get rid of them they will do what they did at decimalisation ie round every price up so something which costs 1.r7 will be 1.50. Multiply that by everything sold and they will make billions.

Wait till you're paying builders 90 quid on your visa instead of 50 cash in hand.

You mean, I'll be able to purchase goods and services from someone with a greater degree of certainty that they'll be paying the right amount of tax? I'm all for that.

Sort that out, sort out the tax avoiding big businesses, great.

I would have thought someone in the public sector who has mentioned dwindling funding to the emergency services would be happy with an increased likelihood of proper tax revenue from those who seek to avoid it by doing cash-in-hand work.

Very valid point to be fair @Frijj.

How is it valid? He's basically just said

"Wait until people can't avoid tax as easily"

That's fine by me. I have no issue with the government taking a hard line to stop people avoiding tax. I just wish they'd do the same with large businesses.

I did mention at a meeting in the club on Sunday gone about taking card payments. I did say not taking them may be a decision that may be taken out of our hands so should be something that should be looked at. When I explained that you had to pay a monthly fee for the terminal and a percentage of each transaction one auld duffer was up in arms. I did suggest minimum spends and there could be efficiency savings but these things gan ower the heeds of the dinosaurs (and where are they now?).

Behave yourself. Andy the electrician fitting a new socket for a cash in hand job is ruining the country, everyone :lol:. He should be behind bars the tax avoiding bastard.

If 1,000 electricians avoid £1,000 of tax over the course of a year, that's a million pounds of tax avoidance there mate.

I'm glad you can do your sums. You carry on paying Bob the builder 100% of the quote via direct debit. I'm sure the government will thank you for being 100% up front and transparent. Like they are.
