Twickenham for the rugby

What's the ground like? Worth getting there early and having some drinks inside the stadium or not?

Plenty of boozers round by the ground or not? If not, where's best to go as obviously the place will be chocka.

You'll get something like Fosters and John Smiths in the ground and there's plenty of bars. Down in Twickenham there are plenty of pubs including a Wetherspoons, though all will be rammed - remember it's also St Paddy's Day! I'll be drinking by Twickenham Green. It's far enough away from the ground to be less rammed and walkable. You've got a choice of the Prince Albert and Bleucher, both Fullers that do food. The Sussex Arms, a free house that is getting more and more popular to the degree they put up a marquee in the garden. Again food's on offer. Lastly there's the Twickenham Brewery which is mainly outdoors. They usually open the bars at the Stoop, Harlequins ground, which is also canny. If you're going to drink in the town head towards the river (left out the station) and go past the Wetherspoons, where there's the Balmy Arms, Eel Pie, Fox and White Swan which will be slightly less busy. Good luck!

The Eel Pie or the Barmy Arms in Twickenham before and after are a good spot.

If you fancy Richmond and are able to, I'd walk (quicker than waiting and getting the bus) to the White Cross on the riverbank - also loads of pubs round there to choose from.

It gets chocka around the stadium and in Twickenham itself. I usually get off the train at St Margaret's and have a few drinks in the Turk's Head where its less busy. The Guinness in the stadium is drinkable and there's lots of options for bait.

It's getting back that is the real bastard - you can queue for 2 hours for the trains going back to London after the match, so its better to either walk somewhere that you can drink while the crowds die down or get on a train going the other way (there's a couple of trains that leave the southbound platform but loop back through Earlsfield and Clapham Junction to Waterloo).
