I'm Going Vegan

Bad Dad bought some tofu as it was on special offer....

If anyone can suggest a decent recipe using it......

My suggestion was "Tofu á la bin"
It's totally inoffensive and tasteless. Stick it in with a sauce of some sort and you'll barely notice it's there. Or bin it as you said.

We are nearly vegan these days, having decided to try to do 10 fruit/veg portions a day. That's the only reason and we still eat dairy, eggs and fish regularly and meat when we feel like it.

Lost a bit of weight, a few more roses in our cheeks, haven't had colds this winter. All anecdotal of course.

Cheaper, mind. Definitely noticed that.

This book is good - not vegan or even entirely veggie, but very, very tasty recipes with shed loads of veg for healthy eating.
See I can go with that approach. Practical, cost & health conscious and not preachy. Please don't get preachy. Nobody likes preachy types. Except Dusty Springfield, and even then it was the son of the preacher man.

I'm going to go vegan for a couple of weeks to see how I feel about it.

Reason mainly being for improved health. I have a couple of friends (not the attention seeking bellend type) who have been vegetarian or vegan for most of their lives and after asking their honest opinion I'm going to give it a go.

I f***ing love meat, like a proper carnivore, so this will be a big change.

Do we have any resident SMB vegans? Looking for any suggestions and advice on basic meals etc to get me going, I have Google too anar but I would prefer SMB wisdom.

I also welcome and encourage the expected abuse from the fatties and shitters ;)

Been a veggie for a while now and must say I feel better for it. I say veggie, I eat loads of fish like. The other half's gone vegan and it is a struggle doing the weekly shop to buy stuff for lots of tasty meals. I've grown to love a lentil mind!

I don't eat meat. Well not since 1989....
I just don't like it. Texture mainly. Scarred by school dinners, tubes in beef, fat on pork & lamb. I eat fish occasionally if I'm out.
Raised my daughter meat-free but now she eats what she likes. I don't really care what anyone else eats or doesn't and it certainly doesn't offend me.

Put it in the oven so it crisps up then hoy it into a stir fry. Tofu can be great.
Bang on !!! Stir-fry is actually on the menu this week.

Most sweets contain gelatin which is made from animal body parts. It's completely fair anyone not wishing to eat animals would check the ingredients of what's in the product.

FFS..next time I've got a bag of Sarsaparilla tablets i'll be careful not to offer one to some manky tree hugger then..Vegans..ffs.

I used to work with a lass (no) and I offered her a Starbust/Opal Fruit and she said she would have to check the packet to make sure it was meat free. On the one hand I kind of admired her dedication but on the other hand I thought she was taking it a bit too far.

I saw a diagram not so long ago with all the things that are an animal by-product. You'd be surprised at some of them. I'll have to see if I can find it again
