I'm Going Vegan

I'm going to go vegan for a couple of weeks to see how I feel about it.

Reason mainly being for improved health. I have a couple of friends (not the attention seeking bellend type) who have been vegetarian or vegan for most of their lives and after asking their honest opinion I'm going to give it a go.

I f***ing love meat, like a proper carnivore, so this will be a big change.

Do we have any resident SMB vegans? Looking for any suggestions and advice on basic meals etc to get me going, I have Google too anar but I would prefer SMB wisdom.

I also welcome and encourage the expected abuse from the fatties and shitters ;)
Why not just say you're vegan but have the odd burger on the sly. You can still lecture people in a condescending way and still enjoy life

Day 1 of being Vegan

Salad leaves with olives, mushrooms and Tomato Bruschetta with Balsamic Glaze. The eagle eyed will notice the goats cheese which was 90% removed.

No the milk wasn't mine either.

Don't feel any different.
The mushrooms look like they were fried in butter

That's true. I saw one discussion about veganism on YouTube and someone said that dogs were Obligate Carnivores.
I looked it up and that person was wrong. It appears that dogs can SURVIVE on a veggie only diet but they can only THRIVE on a diet which includes meat. Human beings are animals so we can either survive or thrive.
It's to do with your intestines, so dogs have really small ones, ours are incredibly long. Meanning we can break down veg and other plants as they slowly pass through. But meat is absorbed far quicker. Their are people in america right now where a nutrition based scientific revolution is happening in small corners basically re-writing everything we thought we knew about our diets and some of them are proving its actually sustainable to survive off just meat alone aslong as the meat is varied and of high quality. I think their was a guy on Joe rogans podcast recently who was living off just meat. One thing that I didn't realise until recently is that when you read the nutritional info of say broccoli for instance, when it says thats how much iron, fibre, vitamins etc. you get from it per pound that isnt true. Thats just what is in the food, how much you absorb is way lower. Whereas with meat you absorb a far higher percentage of the nutrients. One thing meat doesn't give you much of though is fibre so it really is wise just to live as nature intended and eat like an omnivore.

Just a quick tip mate, if your trying to get healthy, eating bread is one of the worst things you can do. Don't got over the top on it.
If you don't believe me look it up, its full of sugar and empty calories.

We are nearly vegan these days, having decided to try to do 10 fruit/veg portions a day. That's the only reason and we still eat dairy, eggs and fish regularly and meat when we feel like it.

Lost a bit of weight, a few more roses in our cheeks, haven't had colds this winter. All anecdotal of course.

Cheaper, mind. Definitely noticed that.

This book is good - not vegan or even entirely veggie, but very, very tasty recipes with shed loads of veg for healthy eating.
