Admittedly I'm saying this in complete ignorance of both the social and political mindsets in South Africa, but surely it's now time to ditch the quota system?

It's nigh on thirty years since they re-entered the cricketing world, some of their most loved cricketers have been "of colour" (Rabada, Amla, Ntini), and I'm sure any coach or captain just wants the best players out there, regardless of race etc..

Test cricket is dying, and one of the major and most loved Test nations isn't able to put out it's strongest possible side, all due to politics.

The quota system probably had its place 10+ years ago in giving players a chance at provincial/test level in a system geared towards the white minority. Surely now though it should end with enough non-whites in the top 22 of South African cricket from all walks of life. Pick them on merit and they would be #1 in the world.
