Scum V Saints

Think Southampton might pinch a 1-0 tonight but still don't honestly see either of these two going down. Saints are way better than form suggests this season and the Mags ability to keep teams out will see them over the line from here, just mind.
If they turn up tonight I think it'll be more than 1-0 as the Mags aren't going to be there till Saturday..

My concern is that he needs to do this season what he failed to do last time we went down.
Last time he had three big games, Norwich, Villa and Sunderland which he returned 2 points. He can’t afford to do that again.

I think you are 100% correct however I believe we will win both games narrowly. 1-0 on Saturday. We will stay up......... just.

Agreed.

What have you felt this season? Have you enjoyed it back up there or are you as disillusioned with football as us lot?[/QUOTE]
Pretty disillusioned TBH. It's a case of the top 6 then the rest of the league left to fight it out for survival. Certainly not much chance for any of the "lesser" teams to win owt. The Prem is going the same way as the Scottish prem did. Newcastle are leaking too many points and, though a lot of folk think we'll be safe, I'm taking nowt for granted until the final whistle on the final day of the season.

I would love it if the FA introduced/scrapped the League Cup with a new cup competition where every side who finished outside the top 6 places the season prior are included- would atleast give every side outside the usual top 6 suspects the hope of winning a trophy.

At some point the FA have to realise the top 6 are in a mini league of their own in terms of finances and as such its only fair in keeping the game interesting to introduce a competition where other clubs stand a chance of winning something.

I agree it can be done but those clubs all won stuff when the top 6 where nowhere near as financially removed from the rest of the league as everyone else - fans from clubs all over outside the top 6 seem to becoming disenfranchised and if the FA hope to keep the gravy train rolling surely they need to address this problem?

The League cup being reformatted to exclude the top 4 CL qualifying clubs from the season prior would be a massive step in the right direction - it would give most sides outside your financial behemoths of Man City, Chelsea, Utd a chance of progressing in the cup, its less fixtures for the top 4 sides who are always moaning and it creates competition and interest from the other 88 clubs in the football league.

If the PL carries on the way it is I can see the TV bubble bursting as more and more people are not renewing season tickets/watching the footie and instead spending their weekends doing something else and I dont blame them at present.

It would totally devalue winning a cup mind

Southampton are pretty decent on the road. Its their home form that's responsible for the position they're in but as they're away I could quite easily see them turning the mags over, especially as they are shite at home as well. Might even watch it if it's on the telly as the losers will find themselves in the relegation zone.

The top 4 sides value finishing 4th over winning the FA cup at present never mind the League Cup. Look at the difference had you beat City in the League Cup final your fans would have gone wild whereas a good section of their fans just seen it as another trophy won.

You would still have 2 of the supposed "top 6" in the competition possibly 3 if an outsider ever did a Leicister the prior year so you would still have big games.

I just think the League Cup is already devalued and to kill 2 birds with 1 stone let the top 4 clubs have all the revenue from the CL and let everyone else have a chance at actually winning a pot/wembley day out.

Premier League is boring I agree, but I bet you wouldn't be anywhere near as disillusioned with it all if you didn't have Allardyce as manager.

I was last season mate. Every season our aim is to finish 7th and have a 66/1 or so chance of winning a trophy which realistically is much higher considering the financial gap between the top 4/6 and the rest. For the bottom half its to stay up and avoid financial disaster - no thought of winning a trophy even comes into it which is sad.
